How You’ll Make a Difference

Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and guide the provision of safe, cost effective and reliable technical services within the assigned fleet of Svitzer Australia
• Oversee the implementation and development of the maintenance and repair procedures with an aim of improving reliability, identifying trends and establishing root causes behind equipment failure
• Provide independent technical review and inspection of vessels to drive asset maintenance improvement
• Lead and support in vessel new building programme and new vessel delivery in operations
• Create and maintain relationships with key suppliers and contractors for effective fleet maintenance and support
• Ensure vessel compliance with all relevant regulations and Svitzer standards in relation to workplace health and safety, environmental and security issues, in all areas of control

What You’ll Bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

• Proven experience in marine engineering and vessel management
• Tertiary qualification in engineering / naval architecture with marine qualifications highly desirable
• Experience in managing a team or function within a matrix organisation
• Experience in dealing with classification societies and statutory bodies with any matters relating to vessel certification/documentation compliance and variations
• Ability to diagnose the root cause of technical problems and suggest practical, innovative, and timely solutions that meet the needs of the business
• Ability to build relationships, both internally and with external service contractors and parts suppliers, to facilitate a cooperative and efficient working environment
