ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned. 

  • Perform basic welding operations (e.g., MIG or flux-core) on simple parts, components, and subassemblies used in ground support equipment and vehicles.

  • Set up and operate welding equipment using established settings, fixtures, and tooling for assigned workstations or assembly areas.

  • Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, grinding, positioning, clamping, and verifying fit-up prior to welding.

  • Execute standard welds on mild steel components in accordance with drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions.

  • Use basic measuring tools and visual inspection techniques to verify weld size, appearance, and placement.

  • Follow all safety procedures related to welding operations, including PPE use, material handling, and equipment operation.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior technical schooling in welding.

  • 0-1 years of related experience.

  • Proficient in MIG welding on steel and aluminum as demonstrated by an on-site weld skills test.

  • Must pass qualifying weld test to be a certified welder on production product.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education.

  • Demonstrates foundational knowledge of welding principles and shop safety practices.

  • Ability to perform consistent basic welds while following drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new welding techniques and manufacturing processes.

  • Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively in a production environment.

  • Demonstrates good hand-eye coordination and basic mechanical aptitude.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The following represents general working conditions for this role. Specific conditions may vary depending on business needs and individual circumstances. 

  • This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations. 

  • The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment. 

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Lifting 36–59 pounds require a 2-person lift. Lifting greater than 59 pounds requires a mechanical lift. 

  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required. 

  • Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.
