LotusWorks is seeking an experienced Wastewater Nightshift O&M Technician to support the safe, reliable, and continuous operation of a Water Reclaim Plant (WRP) within a mission-critical semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining wastewater treatment and water-reclamation systems to ensure regulatory compliance, water-quality requirements, plant reliability, and maximum water recovery.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience operating and maintaining industrial wastewater treatment systems and be comfortable working independently during nightshift operations. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to alarms, equipment failures, process upsets, and water-quality excursions.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the Water Reclaim Plant to ensure continuous, safe, and reliable treatment and recovery of facility wastewater streams.
  • Monitor plant performance through SCADA/HMI systems, field inspections, operator rounds, alarms, trends, and analytical results.
  • Operate treatment processes including equalization, pH adjustment, clarification, filtration, membrane treatment, biological treatment, and polishing systems, as applicable.
  • Operate and monitor advanced treatment systems such as UF, RO, NF, MBR, media filtration, activated carbon, ion exchange, and other treatment technologies where installed.
  • Monitor and optimize water recovery rates, reject rates, membrane performance, and overall plant treatment efficiency.
  • Monitor critical process parameters including flow, pressure, differential pressure, pH, conductivity, ORP, turbidity, TOC, TSS, temperature, and chemical concentration.
  • Perform routine sampling and field analytical testing to verify treatment performance and reclaimed-water quality.
  • Collect process and compliance samples for laboratory analysis in accordance with established sampling plans and procedures.
  • Monitor incoming wastewater characteristics and identify changes that could impact biological, membrane, chemical, or downstream treatment processes.
  • Adjust chemical dosing based on process conditions, analytical results, flow rates, and treatment requirements.
  • Operate and maintain chemical systems including acid, caustic, coagulant, flocculant, antiscalant, biocide, sodium hypochlorite, bisulfite, and other treatment chemicals, as applicable.
  • Monitor chemical inventories and coordinate replenishment to prevent interruptions to plant operations.
  • Operate equalization tanks, transfer pumps, lift stations, feed pumps, recirculation pumps, chemical pumps, mixers, blowers, and associated equipment.
  • Monitor tank levels and manage plant flows to prevent overflow, low-level conditions, hydraulic overload, or loss of treatment capacity.
  • Perform startup, shutdown, isolation, and return-to-service activities for treatment systems and equipment.
  • Perform routine backwash, flushing, clean-in-place (CIP), regeneration, and membrane cleaning activities.
  • Monitor membrane differential pressure, normalized permeate flow, rejection performance, fouling indicators, and cleaning requirements.
  • Identify deteriorating membrane performance and escalate conditions requiring cleaning, replacement, or engineering review.
  • Operate and monitor sludge handling, solids separation, dewatering, filter press, centrifuge, or waste-solids systems, where applicable.
  • Monitor biological treatment health where applicable, including DO, ORP, MLSS, sludge condition, nutrient balance, and process stability.
  • Respond to plant alarms, equipment trips, high/low tank conditions, poor water quality, chemical-system failures, and abnormal process conditions.
  • Troubleshoot pumps, valves, filters, membranes, instrumentation, chemical feed systems, tanks, blowers, mixers, and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform first-line corrective maintenance and support Mechanical, Electrical, and I&C teams with more complex repairs.
  • Inspect equipment for leaks, corrosion, vibration, abnormal temperatures, unusual noise, seal failures, plugging, and deterioration.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities in accordance with approved CMMS/Maximo job plans.
  • Generate corrective work orders for identified equipment deficiencies and accurately document findings.
  • Support calibration and functional verification of pH, conductivity, ORP, turbidity, flow, pressure, level, and other process instrumentation.
  • Maintain accurate operational records including flows, recovery percentage, chemical usage, water quality, equipment availability, alarms, and plant production.
  • Complete detailed shift passdowns identifying plant status, equipment out of service, active alarms, temporary configurations, ongoing maintenance, and operational risks.
  • Coordinate plant activities with UPW, Wastewater, Facilities, Manufacturing, Environmental/EHS, I&C, Mechanical, and Electrical teams.
  • Manage interfaces between the reclaim plant and downstream systems to maintain adequate reclaimed-water quality, pressure, flow, and availability.
  • Respond to reclaimed-water quality excursions and prevent off-specification water from being introduced into downstream systems.
  • Support diversion, recirculation, or alternate operating configurations when reclaim water does not meet established quality requirements.
  • Support environmental compliance requirements associated with reclaim, discharge, waste handling, sampling, and chemical management.
  • Maintain plant operation within established environmental permits, discharge limits, operating envelopes, and internal specifications.
  • Support commissioning, startup, functional testing, and turnover of new or modified reclaim plant equipment.
  • Review and provide field input to P&IDs, SOPs, operating procedures, sequences of operation, alarm limits, and maintenance job plans.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations following equipment failures, water-quality excursions, environmental events, or significant process interruptions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve water recovery, chemical consumption, membrane life, energy efficiency, equipment reliability, and operating costs.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing the percentage of wastewater recovered and reused within the facility.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, chemical storage, labeling, spill prevention, and equipment-area condition.
  • Perform work in accordance with LOTO/COHE, confined-space, chemical handling, PPE, fall protection, and site EHS requirements.
  • Support emergency response for chemical releases, tank overflows, major equipment failures, loss of treatment capacity, and water-quality events.
  • Maintain readiness to support a 24/7 semiconductor manufacturing operation, including rotating shifts, callouts, and emergency response as required.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating and maintaining industrial wastewater treatment systems.
  • Hands-on experience with wastewater treatment, water reclamation, or related industrial water systems.
  • Strong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment, instrumentation, and chemical treatment.
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting treatment systems and responding to process abnormalities.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, equipment documentation, operating procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently during nightshift and make sound operational decisions in a mission-critical environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely around industrial equipment, chemicals, confined spaces, and process systems.
  • Ability and willingness to support a 24/7 operation, including rotating shifts, overtime, callouts, and emergency response as required.
