This position is based in San Antonio, TX.

What you'll do:

Under direct supervision and with guidance from senior engineers and your mentor, your day will involve developing solutions that enable scalable visualization delivery by augmenting human analysts and automating workflow execution across the visualization lifecycle. The work will be aligned with USAA's technology strategy, potentially involving the use of AI tools and automation to enhance efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop AI-enabled capabilities that accelerate, augment, and automate visualization lifecycle execution, increasing the speed, quality, and scalability of delivery
• Engage BIA teams and customers to identify friction, pain points, and opportunities
• Map solutions to the visualization development lifecycle from intake through adoption
• Prototype, test, and refine agentic workflows for quality, reliability, and repeatability
• Create documentation, guardrails, and examples that support adoption and safe use
• Measure solution impact and continuously improve based on user feedback
• Dynamically adapt solutions and strategy as industry capability evolves

To qualify, you must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university, and plan to graduate after the final day of the internship. Most of our interns participate in the summer between their junior and senior years. Our 2027 internship will start on June 2nd, 2027, and last through August 13, 2027.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Anticipated graduation date between September 2027 and May 2028.

Foundational understanding of:

• Python / PowerShell / SQL
• Generative AI / LLMs
• Prompt and agent design
• PowerBI / Tableau
• Workflow automation and test harnesses
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership through coursework, projects, student organizations, employment, or community involvement.

What sets you apart:

• BIA Domain Experience
• BIA or visualization development lifecycle experience
• Experience translating pain points into solution requirements
• Coursework or project experience involving software development.
• Understanding of Agile development concepts.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and emerging technologies.

Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $26.50 - $36. Interns will receive an intern stipend to assist with expenses.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the hourly range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual hourly rate for this role may vary by location.
