DESCRIPTION

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Visual Communications Designer to join our Global Communications team. Your expertise in visual design, data-driven storytelling, digital communications and creative problem-solving will make a significant impact by delivering visually compelling insights to leadership and stakeholders to elevate business communications.

In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for managing data supply chain processes, including architecture, governance, collection, integration, reporting, and dashboarding of data; developing metrics and measurement plans; identifying trends and opportunities through analysis; and effectively communicating data and insights to drive strategic decision-making and optimize business performance.

As the Visual Design and Communications Specialist your work will span the communications spectrum and partner with colleagues all over the world, designing engaging graphics for presentations, optimizing dashboards and reports, helping craft compelling stories about content performance, collaborating on website enhancements and assisting with on-brand content for global social media channels.

This role requires strong AI fluency and the ability to apply emerging technologies to improve communications, content operations, reporting and team productivity. You will use tools such as ChatGPT Enterprise and other company-approved tools to accelerate content development, support insight generation, streamline workflows, enhance decision-making and help scale communications effectiveness. Success in this position will require a blend of design sensibility, analytics knowledge, digital platform experience and practical knowledge of prompt engineering and GPT-enabled solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Presentation and Visual Communications Development: Independently and collaboratively create compelling presentation materials, executive-ready graphics, reports and other visual communication assets to help translate communicate insights into clear and engaging materials for diverse audiences.

High-Quality Graphics Production: Design and produce high-quality graphics and other visual assets for presentations, reports, dashboards, websites and other content shared across teams and with leadership.

Analytics and Reporting Tools Utilization: Use tools such as Power BI, Looker, GA4, Adobe Analytics, Smartsheet, and other platforms to develop meaningful visual outputs, presentation materials, reports and insight communications.

AI-Enabled Content and Workflow Development: Apply ChatGPT Enterprise and other company-approved AI tools to improve content creation, reporting workflows, research synthesis, audience analysis, summarization and communications planning.

Prompt Engineering and GPT Development: Develop and refine effective prompts, workflows, and custom GPT use cases that improve team productivity, support knowledge discovery and enhance output while aligning with governance and business needs.

Website and CMS Project Collaboration: Collaborate on website and digital experience projects using content management systems such as Adobe Experience Manager to help improve user experience, content performance and brand consistency.

Social Media and Digital Content Support: Support global social media channels and digital campaigns on an as-needed basis with eye-catching, brand-compliant graphic design and visual storytelling.

Measurement and Optimization Support: Support communication and visual presentation efforts of performance reporting, measurement outputs, and optimization of content and engagement.

Design and Communications Project Management: Manage design and communications projects, including planning, execution, integration, optimization and ongoing maintenance.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with internal stakeholders around the world to align design, analytics, AI and communications deliverables with project objectives, timelines and business priorities.

Trend and Advancement Awareness: Stay current on trends, education and advancements in data, analytics, artificial intelligence, communications strategies, digital experience platforms, project management methodologies and data visualization.

HOW YOU WILL GET THERE

Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Design, Public Relations, Media, Digital Communications, or a related field, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.

Digital and Technical Literacy: Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and related design tools. Experience with Power BI, Smartsheet, Looker, GA4, Adobe Analytics and content management systems, such as Adobe Experience Manager, is strongly desired.

AI Fluency: Demonstrated experience using ChatGPT Enterprise or similar enterprise AI tools in a business environment, with practical knowledge of prompt engineering, AI-assisted content development, workflow enablement and GPT-based solutions.

Proven Experience: Successful track record managing communications, design, and reporting tasks within a business environment, including developing visually engaging presentations, dashboards, metrics, and executive-ready materials.

Data Storytelling and Analytical Skills: Strong ability to translate data into clear, actionable narratives and visual communications that inform and influence strategic decision-making.

Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including fluency in English, with the ability to work effectively with teams in international and multicultural settings.

Multitasking and Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines. Adaptable, agile and able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing schedules and priorities.

Personal Integrity: Stays calm under pressure, takes initiative and succeeds in working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Curiosity and a Drive to Learn: Solid understanding, along with a passion for continuous learning of communication strategies, including digital marketing, content creation, multimedia, social media, web content, analytics and emerging AI applications.
