At National Indemnity Company, we believe some of the best learning happens when classroom knowledge meets real-world, hands-on business experience. The Cooperative Education (Co-Op) Program provides students with the opportunity to apply their academics in a professional setting while building the skills, relationships, and business experience needed for future career success.

This multi-semester experience is designed for students who are eager to contribute, learn, and grow through meaningful work assignments, mentorship, and exposure to industry professionals. Participants will earn university credit while receiving competitive pay and gaining hands-on experience supporting critical business functions within National Indemnity Company.

What You'll Experience

As a Co-Op Student, you will:

• Gain practical experience through meaningful project work and business assignments.
• Partner with experienced professionals and leaders who will provide coaching and mentorship.
• Develop analytical, problem-solving, communication, and professional skills.
• Learn how business decisions are made and how various functions collaborate to achieve organizational goals.
• Apply concepts learned in the classroom to real business opportunities and challenges.
• Participate in projects and initiatives that create value for the department and organization.
• Complete academic reporting and presentation requirements as part of the Cooperative Education Program.

Because this program supports a variety of business areas, specific projects and responsibilities may vary based on departmental needs and student interests.

Program Qualifications

• Currently enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
• Pursuing a degree in Mathematics or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Sophomore, junior, or senior standing may be considered in accordance with university program requirements.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
• Demonstrated academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Program Commitment

To maximize learning and business impact, students selected for this opportunity must:

• Reside in the Omaha, Nebraska area and work on-site at our corporate office.
• Commit to participation for a minimum of two academic semesters and one summer term.
• Work an average of:
  • 15 hours per week during academic semesters
  • 25 hours per week during the summer term
• Successfully meet all Cooperative Education program and university requirements.
