Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Transport Allocator to join our growing branch, in Launceston!
As a Transport Allocator, you will will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service by maximising vehicle capacity, maintaining compliance with transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements, and supporting continuous improvement across transport operations.

Working Hours:
This is a full time role working Monday to Friday, 7:00-16:30 and every other Saturday, from 8:00-12:00

Key Responsibilities:
Allocate and plan customer deliveries to ensure delivery commitments and service levels are achieved.
Maximise fleet utilisation and delivery capacity while maintaining operational efficiency.
Work closely with branches to understand customer requirements and manage changing priorities.
Proactively identify and resolve delivery issues before they impact customers.
Communicate effectively with drivers, branch teams and transport colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
Produce efficient daily delivery schedules and vehicle allocations.
Plan branch transfers, stock movements and inter-branch deliveries in the most cost-effective manner.
Assist with analysis of failed, delayed or compromised deliveries and identify corrective actions.
Ensure transport operations are conducted in accordance with Operator Licence requirements and relevant legislation.
Maintain accurate information across all transport systems, databases and reporting tools.
Monitor and promote effective use of Delivery Management Systems and transport processes.
Escalate compliance, vehicle or driver concerns appropriately.
Support the business in maintaining high standards of safety, wellbeing and environmental performance.
What were looking for:
Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or fleet scheduling, is desirable
Understanding of transport legislation and Operator Licence requirements, is desirable
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport management systems.
