The Markets, Innovation, and Design (MiDE) Department at Bucknell University's Freeman College of Management invites applications for a full-time, open-rank (assistant, advanced assistant, or early associate level), tenure-track position to contribute to the College's mission of providing a rigorous, experiential education, in the context of a unique national university with a vibrant liberal arts core and strong complementary professional programs. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated world class teaching and have a clear and active pipeline of high-quality research in the candidate’s area of expertise (within the fields of marketing, innovation, or design). The appointment is slated to begin in August 2027.

We seek a teacher-scholar to develop and teach courses that focus on digital technologies (e.g., the evolving role of artificial intelligence) that are relevant to marketing, innovation, and design. The successful candidate will also be able to offer sections of existing MiDE core courses that would provide relief from increasing enrollment pressures as both the Freeman College and MiDE department enrollments have grown in recent years. The ideal candidate will be able to teach MiDE 201, Principles of Marketing to students from both inside and outside of the Freeman College of Management. The tenure-track teaching load at Bucknell University is five courses per academic year. Academic advising will be a critical and demanding part of this position. Faculty members in the MiDE department typically work with approximately 25 advisees each. Our student body is becoming more diverse, so our new colleague must express a convincing dedication to mentor a diverse array of students. We are interested in encouraging students to pursue paths leading to lives of purpose, so we would like our colleague to be able to help students identify opportunities that would enable them to develop habits of mind that are aligned with the MiDE philosophy of embracing ambiguity, being curiously observant, failing forward, being hyper collaborative, and exhibiting creative confidence.

Our successful candidate will be interested in integrating students into their own scholarly agenda, and pursuing interdisciplinary collaborative teaching and scholarly initiatives with colleagues across the University. The extent of the scholarly record should be commensurate with the length of the candidate’s tenure in academia. The College expects tenure-track faculty to make significant and creative intellectual contributions to their fields. The Markets, Innovation, and Design faculty at Bucknell has varied research interests including consumer culture theory, marketing strategy, and the integration of marketing and design thinking. Candidates with post Ph.D. full-time academic experience may be granted credit towards tenure. Salary is AACSB-competitive and commensurate with experience. The approximately 900 undergraduate students in the AACSB-accredited Freeman College of Management may choose among eight highly interdisciplinary majors that combine courses in the various fields of management, with offerings also in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, and engineering. Our innovative curriculum and world-class teacher-scholars earned Freeman College a top-40 ranking in the Poets & Quants' annual survey of undergraduate business programs in each of the past 3 years. We believe that an undergraduate education combining technical skills and deep intellectual exploration is the best preparation for thoughtful and capable leaders. New faculty members must be capable of contributing to this mission through progressive teaching, advising, scholarship, and service.

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship in accordance with University policy.
