Technologist Microbiology Lab is responsible for performing work in laboratory environment, assisting Microbiology Lab Scientist to prototype potential methodologies, and perform critical testing of raw material, in process, finish product, and environment monitoring sample based on specification and Mars’ standard. This role will play a critical role to utilize specialized technical knowledge in performing complex assignments and is recognized as an expert within an area. She/He will perform testing method with sophisticated microbiology instrument and be the role model of digitalization implementation within laboratory operation (LIMS & EMP Trend Digital Platform) with ability to identify deviation and providing input of troubleshooting. This role also exercises independent authority and responsibility for those assigned areas. This position is responsible to ensure timely and reliable results while deploying quality system and LQS on daily basis. In addition, this role expected to show continuous initiative and must ensure excellence in all execution of lab activities to stay abreast of best practice.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Responsible for performing various testing procedures, specifically but not limited to pathogen testing for microbiological quality control of raw material, in process, finish product, environment samples, and cleaning & sanitation verification with driving excellent execution following approved methods and customer specifications
• Responsible for executing in house culture management both for hygiene indicators and critical pathogen, including frequent subculturing & purity verification (biochemical, API, serology, etc).
• Performing critical testing with operating high-end pathogen detection instruments, including but not limited to Salmonella by PCR Gene Up and Listeria by ELISA Vidas. Responsible to provide technical knowledge and expertise in the use and application of that instrumentation. Including ability to identify deviation, troubleshooting, and escalate to the superior. Performing laboratory proficiency testing program and/or comparisons test and implement required corrective actions.
• Supporting Microbiology Lab Scientist on evaluating media quality control (positive control, growth promotion test, incoming check) by excellent execution, observation, documentation, and data collection for statistical evaluation.
• Supporting to ensure documentation system in-place by maintaining latest testing reference, reviewing methods, and recommend updates/new methods if required, ensuring MGS approved methods reference. Maintain and update relevant lab quality systems, assisting Micro Lab Scientist to write/create documents.
• Responsible to assist Micro Lab Scientist to prototype potential methodologies and deployment of new method and technologies to accommodate testing methods of cocoa liquor, cake, butter, and EMP samples matrix in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Contributes to support project and initiatives within R&D strategy, able to identify input for continuous improvement, efficiency activities and lab growth opportunities.
• Responsible for recording observations, compiling data, and reports of test results, verify test results to ensure conformity to microbiology specifications. Maintains records with data management and ensuring accuracy of information entered the system BC365 and communicate testing result effectively to relevant stakeholders. Preparing and generating detailed reports, conducting analyses on data trend and identify opportunity for improvement/efficiency including recommendations and conclusions.
• Responsible for consistent LIMS implementation on daily operational, able to identify deviation, and supporting Lab Scientist for troubleshooting.
• Responsible for all microbiology data collection to support Lab Scientist on Microbiology Data Trending (Power BI or other EMP Data Platform).
• Provide input of resources and time required to conduct an experiment or testing to ensure these targets are met, support controlling stocks of consumables and media including input for lab budget.
• Supporting routine safety program checks and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order, including setting up, configuring, installing, and maintaining lab equipment and assets.
• Supporting of incident management, customer complaint and quality NCs investigation by following CAPA, PRIMP/LISP. Perform technical troubleshooting to the lab equipment issues, execute and follow up corrective actions and verify effectiveness of implemented measures. Trace and put on hold of products when required.
• In addition, responsible to play a supporting role in driving a given task, support technical training for lab staff, able to comprehend the scope of their role and objective, support production start-ups and “Go and See” activities, participating to internal auditing related to FS and QMS. Perform any task given by superior/LM.
