About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

We are currently seeking a Technical Specialist of Battery Safety, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Battery Engineering. This role is responsible for setting the safety standards used both in R&D as well production. The applicant should bring an organized mind coupled with the mental agility to enforce safety as our top priority without creating an environment too rigid for creative solutioning.

You will

  • Own HV battery RESS safety requirements for all battery programs, including authoring, maintaining, and approving requirements in CAMEO and 3DX across PV, DV, and production phases.
  • Lead system-level safety analyses, including SFMEA, DFMEA alignment, HARA, and hazard breakdowns from L0–L4, ensuring traceability to test evidence and field learnings.
  • Drive regulatory and compliance readiness for global markets, including R100, FMVSS 305a, CE Marking, EURO NCAP, UL 2580, UN38.3, and emerging battery safety legislation.
  • Act as the primary safety interface to vehicle, pack, manufacturing, service, and validation teams, resolving crossfunctional safety issues and ensuring timely closure of actions.
  • Define and review battery safety test plans (R&D and DV), review test data, extract learnings, and rapidly cascade risks or concerns to DREs and leadership.
  • Lead thermal runaway (TR) safety topics, including detection logic, postcrash reactions, contactor and fuse responses, grounding strategies, and customer notification paths.
  • Support manufacturing and service safety topics, including HV handling, storage, damaged pack response, labeling, MSDS, emergency response guides, and service manuals.
  • Maintain and present program safety dashboards, compliance status, and maturity tracking to stakeholders on a regular cadence.
  • Represent the company in industry working groups and standards committees (emobility, PRBA, ZETA, UL), ensuring Lucid remains ahead of regulatory and safety trends.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers on safety methods, requirements of quality, and system thinking.

You have

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 6–10+ years of experience in HV battery systems, functional safety, or vehicle safety engineering.
  • Handson experience with battery safety analyses (SFMEA, DFMEA, HARA) and requirements development.
  • Working knowledge of global battery safety and vehicle regulations (R100, FMVSS, CE, NCAP, UN38.3).
  • Experience using requirements or systems engineering tools such as CAMEO, DOORS, 3DX, FLOW, JAMA or similar.
  • Ability to interpret test data and CAE results and convert them into clear engineering decisions.
  • Proven track record of crossfunctional execution in fastpaced product development environments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex safety topics to nonexperts.
  • Strong ownership mindset, attention to detail, and comfort operating in highresponsibility, regulatorydriven roles.
