Summary of Job Duties:

The Technical Services Librarian serves as the primary administrator of the Young Law Library's Ex Libris Alma Library Services Platform, ensuring the integrity, functionality, and continuous improvement of the library's systems for managing and providing access to library collections. The librarian oversees system configuration, metadata quality, discovery services, and technical workflows that support the acquisition, organization, and accessibility of library resources. The position also serves as the library's principal resource for extracting, analyzing, and reporting library data from Alma to support strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, accreditation, collection analysis, and institutional reporting.

In addition to serving as the library's systems administrator, the Technical Services Librarian leads technical services operations, including cataloging, acquisitions, authority control, and metadata management for print and electronic resources. The Technical Services Librarian also administers the library's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) collection, ensuring compliance with Government Publishing Office (GPO) requirements while promoting access to government information resources.

As a twelve-month tenure-track faculty member, the Technical Services Librarian participates in faculty governance, engages in scholarship and professional service, and contributes to the strategic initiatives of the Young Law Library, the School of Law, and the University of Arkansas.

This is an in- person position. Most university classes are offered face-to-face, and extensive in- person engagement in such activities as office hours, student advising, and departmental, college, and university committee meetings is essential to advancing student success and departmental effectiveness.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution
• Experience with integrated library systems or library services platforms, preferably Ex Libris Alma
• Knowledge of cataloging and metadata standards, including MARC21, RDA, Library of Congress Classification, Library of Congress Subject Headings, and authority control
• Experience with technical services operations, including cataloging, acquisitions, or metadata management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
• Experience in an academic law library
• Experience administering Ex Libris Alma and Primo
• Experience using Alma Analytics or similar reporting and business intelligence tools
• Experience with Federal Depository Library Program collections and Government Publishing Office requirements
• Familiarity with OCLC WorldShare, authority control services, and emerging metadata technologies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to extract, analyze, interpret, and present library data and statistics to support administrative decision-making, assessment, accreditation, and strategic planning
• Ability to analyze library workflows and implement process improvements
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment
