Your Role at impact.com:

As impact.com continues to scale its global partnership management platform, our product offering and distributed system architectures grow increasingly interconnected. Delivering major, high-leverage software capabilities is no longer the work of single, isolated squads; instead, it demands seamless coordination, dependency management, and flawless alignment across multiple engineering, product, design, and data science teams.

Without dedicated operational guidance, complex cross-functional initiatives face risks of misalignment, fragmented tracking, delayed releases, and administrative overhead on engineering leadership.

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) role is established within the Product Operations sub-department to resolve these challenges. By serving as the operational connective tissue across squads, the TPM ensures that multi-team technical programs are planned with rigor, executed with agility, and delivered with predictability. This role is essential for accelerating program velocity, resolving structural friction points, and keeping our R&D teams highly aligned with overall business outcomes and customer success.

The Technical Project Manager is a dynamic, highly visible execution leader within impact.com's Product & Technology division. Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Product Operations, this individual takes end-to-end operational ownership of cross-functional technical programs from inception to post-launch evaluation.

The TPM is a "player-coach" of process and program execution. They act as a trusted partner to engineering managers, product leads, and UX designers, using Agile and Scrum methodologies to keep highly complex, multi-team efforts on track.

This role requires a unique combination of sharp organizational instincts, deep communication skills, and technical credibility—allowing you to engage deeply with engineers on architecture, APIs, and system dependencies. Additionally, this role champions modern operations by actively leveraging generative AI tools to maximize personal productivity, streamline documentation, and continuously mature the wider TPM playbook.

What You'll Do:

1. Program & Delivery Management (40%)

  • End-to-End Delivery: Own the execution of complex, multi-team technical programs, ensuring they progress predictably from early scoping and dependency mapping through launch and stabilization.
  • Agile Orchestration: Drive agile program ceremonies, coordinate cross-squad sprint reviews, organize program-level syncs, and facilitate joint retrospectives.
  • Tracking & Documentation: Establish and maintain high hygiene standards for project tracking in Jira (boards, epics, sprint mapping, and active dependency links) and structured, accessible documentation in Confluence.
  • Risk & Blocker Mitigation: Proactively identify, track, and resolve scope creep, resource constraints, technical blockers, and team-to-team dependencies before they impact the critical path.
  • SLA & Reporting: Define program milestones, establish success metrics, and own the communication of progress, health, and risk profiles to R&D and business leadership.

2. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Alignment (30%)

  • Connective Tissue: Serve as the primary operational link bridging Engineering, Product, Design, Data, and go-to-market/customer-facing business teams.
  • Communication Governance: Author and execute comprehensive stakeholder communication plans, ensuring alignment on project changes, escalation paths, and key decision logs.
  • Trade-off Facilitation: Host and guide trade-off discussions when squads face conflicting priorities, resource constraints, or architectural friction points, presenting structured, data-driven options to leaders.
  • Resource Balance: Collaborate with engineering managers and product leads to ensure sprint commitments sensibly balance new feature delivery, tech debt reduction, and operational support.

3. Process Maturity & Continuous Improvement (20%)

  • Agile Enablement: Coach and support engineering squads of varying maturity levels, helping them refine their local Scrum/Kanban practices to improve flow and cycle time.
  • Objective Post-Mortems: Run blame-free retrospectives and post-mortems following major releases or system-layer issues, translating takeaways into immediate process updates.
  • TPM Practice Development: Actively contribute to building the internal TPM practice by developing shared templates, delivery playbooks, and standardized metric dashboards.

4. Technical Literacy & Modern AI Productivity (10%)

  • AI-Powered Workflows: Actively utilize modern generative AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Copilot) to accelerate daily tasks—such as synthesizing documentation, drafting clear stakeholder communications, and automating administrative program tracking.
  • Technical Engagement: Build a strong working knowledge of impact.com's system architectures, APIs, and cloud infrastructure patterns to credibly challenge timelines, identify technical risks, and participate in scoping discussions with technical leads.
