The Warehouse Team Leader oversees day to day warehouse operations to ensure safe, compliant, and on time order fulfillment. This role leads and supports picking, packing, inventory control, and documentation activities, including conducting cycle counts, processing inventory adjustments, and maintaining accurate records for internal and external suppliers. The Team Leader provides daily supervision and hands on guidance to warehouse associates, assigns workloads, and ensures adherence to SOPs, company policies, and regulatory requirements, including DOT, EHS, and quality standards. Acting as a key liaison with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Logistics, and internal inventory teams, the position coordinates shipments, supports operational continuity, and reports staffing, equipment, and operational needs to the DC Manager.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Process all customer orders and inquiries accurately and on time to meet logistics and transportation expectations.
  • Lead and assist picking and packing activities to ensure daily service levels are achieved.
  • Print daily orders and manifests in order to assign picking/packing work.
  • Coordinate and communicate inventory activities with internal inventory teams, while ensuring accurate inventory control for internal and external suppliers.
  • Execute inventory adjustments, discrepancy resolution, and root‑cause analysis in JDE and related systems.
  • Conduct and support monthly and annual inventory counts in accordance with established procedures.
  • Serve as liaison with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service departments as well as other Logistics Departments to maintain relationships with internal and external parties and ensure a smooth operation.
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision, guidance, and hands‑on support to warehouse associates.
  • Ensure adherence to all SOPs, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality Control records for warehouse operations.
  • Support compliance with DOT and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with and report to the DC Manager on warehouse operations, staffing, and equipment needs.
  • Assist the DC Manager with overall warehouse functions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain proficient use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to support inventory, shipping, and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accurate documentation for orders, shipments, inventory adjustments, and compliance records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of prior warehouse & logistics services experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong knowledge of computers and software systems, i.e. Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including familiarity and experience with an inventory planning tool, i.e. JD Edwards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities, multitask, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Experience coordinating daily workload and supporting small teams.

Preferences

  • Prior experience leading daily warehouse operations and maintaining EHS/quality records.
  • Forklift certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and inventory transactions in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements    

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. (occasionally more with team lifts or mechanical assistance).
  • Prolonged standing and walking for the duration of the shift, often 8–12 hours.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and climbing as part of daily tasks.
  • Performance of repetitive motions such as picking, packing, scanning, labeling, and loading/unloading.
  • Work performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving machinery, and powered industrial equipment.
  • Operation of material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, and conveyors (certification required or obtained on the job).
  • Work may occur in non–climate-controlled facilities, with exposure to hot, cold, or fluctuating temperatures.
  • Adherence to safety protocols, SOPs, and PPE requirements at all times.

 

 

*This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience.  The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
