Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.

Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Electronic Technician I performs entry‑ to intermediate‑level electronic maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing on TACOM‑managed systems and equipment. The technician supports sustainment and readiness operations by diagnosing malfunctions, repairing or replacing electronic components, and ensuring equipment is returned to service in compliance with Army standards. This position follows established procedures, technical manuals, and safety requirements to execute preventative maintenance tasks effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the simultaneous operation of multiple complex ATE systems.
• Evaluates performance failures of units under test through interpretation of test program source codes and examination of electronic data.
• Determines the applied stimuli demanded by the program, signal paths of the stimuli, and interaction of the electronic measurement equipment embedded in the ATE system.
• Analyzes the reaction of the unit under test in response to the stimuli applied and determines the repairs to be made.
• Analyzes and evaluates unique problems related to specific component failures where marginal operating characteristics exist.
• Determines electronic components that will function within the tolerance as specified by the test program set source code.
• Serves as the user representative for the major subordinate command in validating the test program set design as developed by the contractor.
• Makes formal recommendations on changes required to improve design or to bring the design into compliance of the approved technical data package.
• Prepares detailed reports on failure trends and failure modes for submission to depot engineering and Major Subordinate Commands. Information for the reports is generated through the data collection on each failure and interpretation of test data. Failure trends are plotted to provide visibility of problems that warrant corrective action through engineering changes or modification.
• Provides technical advice and assistance to various activities and organizations (MSC's, field army, contractors, etc.) in regard to test program sets and ATE testing is general.
• Evaluates engineering change proposals and provides formal recommendations as required.
• Performs on-site analysis as required for resolution of test program set problems, providing either technical services or training as appropriate.
• Monitors production schedules, plans and forecast workload.
• Schedules routine maintenance and cyclic calibration during low periods of production assuring absolute minimum impact on production operations and routines.
• Performs daily calibration of ATE system, verifying operation within the specified ranges of the technical data package. Utilizing various types of complex electronic TMDE, performs periodic cyclic calibration of mainframe computer and embedded peripheral equipment. Adjust voltage, gain, and other critical operating characteristics as required.
• Diagnose malfunctions of ATE system, peripheral and imbedded integrated electronic test equipment.
• Isolates failures to the specific circuit or component. Responsible for accurate diagnostic to aid in diagnosis of failures which are extremely critical in the reported failures of the ATE be accurate to prevent the unwarranted expense of a contractor representative being requested on-site.
• Performs all general repair to the ATE.
• Troubleshoot faults within ATE or UUT utilizing advanced electronic knowledge, interpretation of ATLAS test programs, schematics, and advance electronic test equipment.
• Utilize the self-test, survey, and alignment features to ensure station readiness. Use oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, and RF millivolt meters.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• Requires a considerable practical knowledge of a wide range of electronic theory, principles, practices, processes, operations and techniques and the ability to apply this knowledge to the accomplishment of difficult, but well-precedented projects.
• Knowledge of methods analysis and improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of current automation technology and practices essential for the accomplishment of electronic technician work.
• Knowledge of computer programming language and electronic theory and application practices.
• Ability to use analytical and diagnostic techniques to isolate technical faults.
• Ability to investigate new or improved work methods and procedures.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement solutions to technical problems.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to plan and organize work independently.
• Ability to gather, analyze, and present facts.
• Ability to access or locate information through the use of a personal computer or terminal.
• Ability to research, analyze, interpret and apply rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of the employing organization.
• Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
• U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
• Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information

This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
