New ideas are all around us, but only a few will change the world. That’s our focus at JPL. We ask the biggest questions, then search the universe for answers—literally. We build upon ideas that have guided generations, then share our discoveries to inspire generations to come. Your mission—your opportunity—is to seek out the answers that bring us one step closer. If you’re driven to discover, create, and inspire something that lasts a lifetime and beyond, you’re ready for JPL.

Located in Pasadena, California, JPL has a campus-like environment situated on 177 acres in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and offers a work environment unlike any other: we inspire passion, foster innovation, build collaboration, and reward excellence.

The Mission Operations Section (326) is looking for a Systems Engineer, Level 1 for the Deep Space Network Scheduling Group (326G). • Produce accurate and error‑free allocation plans, configuration details, view period analyses, and other essential support products for spacecraft operations teams.
  • Provide well‑supported tracking schedule options to assist in resolving mission technical challenges, such as adjustments required for safe‑mode recovery.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation (JPL‑issued cellphone) to support emergency operational needs.
  • Complete a structured training program, typically requiring 3–6 months.

Required Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related technical discipline with 1 year of related experience or master's with 0 years of related experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proven capability to collaborate and negotiate effectively with peers to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Highly self‑motivated, able to multitask, and comfortable working in high‑pressure situations.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant scheduling experience.
  • Experience working within the JPL multi‑mission operations environment.
  • Solid understanding of DSN scheduling processes and procedures.
  • Familiarity with DSN user tracking requirements.
  • Prior experience in a customer service‑focused role.
  • Working knowledge of SSS, DIVA, MORPH, and other mission support software tools.
