The Supervisor, Fleet Management is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of GRDA’s Fleet Management shop and supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment. This position coordinates preventive maintenance and repair activities, assigns and prioritizes work, manages shop and field service needs, coordinates external vendor services, and ensures accurate maintenance records are maintained.

Essential Job Functions Include, but Are Not Limited To:

  • Oversee daily Fleet Management shop operations, including planning and prioritizing preventive maintenance, service, and repair activities and assigning work based on operational needs, staffing, technician capabilities, and equipment priorities.
  • Coordinate vehicle and equipment maintenance with operators, supervisors, and internal customers to minimize operational disruptions and provide timely communication regarding repair status, anticipated completion, and return-to-service timelines.
  • Oversee mobile and field repair activities, including the dispatch of technicians and coordination of alternate repair services when vehicles or equipment cannot be repaired in the field.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services with external vendors when specialized expertise, equipment, or additional capacity is required; monitor vendor performance, repair progress, and service completion.
  • Ensure work orders, maintenance activities, repair history, scheduling information, and equipment status are accurately and timely documented within the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS), Maximo, and other applicable systems.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to Fleet Management employees, including work direction, scheduling, coaching, performance management, employee development, and corrective action in partnership with management and Human Resources, as appropriate.  
  • Serve as a technical resource for fleet maintenance and repair activities, providing guidance related to diagnostics, repair strategies, parts, tools, materials, and other resources necessary to safely and effectively maintain GRDA fleet vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of fleet maintenance operations, preventive maintenance practices, automotive and heavy equipment repair, diagnostics, and shop operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise, coach, develop, schedule, and coordinate skilled technical employees.
  • Strong planning, organizational, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate competing priorities, adjust work assignments, and make sound operational decisions in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information, maintenance needs, and repair status to employees, operators, supervisors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to effectively use or learn Maximo, scheduling systems, and other applicable business applications.
  • Working knowledge of parts, tools, materials, equipment, and vendor resources associated with fleet maintenance and repair operations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation and exercise sound judgment when addressing operational, employee, and customer-related matters.

Education, Training, Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in fleet maintenance, automotive or heavy equipment maintenance, or a closely related repair environment required.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory, lead, or other demonstrated leadership experience in a fleet maintenance or repair environment preferred.

Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for an Oklahoma resident who possesses an out-of-state driver’s license.

Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in office, fleet maintenance shop, and field environments and may include work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires the ability to move throughout shop and field work areas and inspect vehicles and equipment. Work may occasionally require bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, or working in and around vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • May be exposed to noise, moving equipment, oils, fuels, chemicals, exhaust, and other conditions associated with fleet maintenance operations.
  • Employees are required to follow applicable safety practices and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and travel to GRDA facilities, field locations, and vendor locations as business needs require.
