Essential Job Duties and Tasks
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.
- Review and approve staff timesheets and leave requests.
- Assign, schedule, and review work of department staff.
- On-the-job training and mentoring employees.
- Supervises and performs the following department functions:
- Developing and maintaining production cost models for the ERCOT System.
- Conducting comprehensive economic transmission planning analysis of the ERCOT System and evaluating the benefits of proposed transmission system upgrades.
- Conducting long-term planning studies to ensure recommended transmission system upgrades are robust considering uncertainties and potential extreme weather scenarios.
- Integrating economic and reliability transmission planning processes.
- Developing new or revised transmission planning techniques and processes to meet system and market needs.
- Sponsoring revisions to ERCOT Protocols, Guides, or procedures, as necessary, to implement changes to transmission planning criteria or practices.
- Tracking real-time congestion and benchmarking operational constraints to those observed in planning studies.
- Coordinates closely with other teams across System Planning and Operations.
- Represents ERCOT in stakeholder and industry forums, committees, and working groups.
- Supports regulatory and stakeholder discussions regarding changes to economic planning criteria and procedures.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in compliance audits.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the power industry in transmission planning and/or energy market analysis
- Proficiency in modeling of transmission systems, energy markets, utility operations, and/or LMP markets using steady-state and security-constrained unit commitment and economic-dispatch models is required
- Proficiency in UPLAN or other production cost modeling software is required
- Prior experience supervising or leading a team or project preferred
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics, or related discipline or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields.
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration (MBA), or related field is preferred.

Work Location:
- Required to be onsite in Taylor 2-3 days a week. Some remote work may be performed from your Texas Residence.
- Schedules will be flexible based on business needs
- Some personal preference options may be allowed, Manager will determine if accommodations can be made based on business needs

Expected Salary Range:
$144,000 - $198,000
