Sandvik is seeking applications from motivated individuals for Superintendent - UG Maintenance to join our team.
Scope
- Responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of UG Drill & Utility’s equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.
- Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Supervision of 3 General Foreman within Sandvik (Drill, HV Electrician & Utility) and more than 130 technicians
- Carry out technical fault diagnosis work and machine improvements as required on Sandvik Drills equipment and other Getman mobile equipment
Responsibilities
- Maintenance Processes
- Monitor manpower coverage to ensure constant support for the customer.
- Work closely with the customer maintenance and production departments in areas related to machine performance.
- Provide reporting on component failures and warranty claims to customer.
- Carry out ½ yearly performance reviews for underlines.
- Provide opportunities for skill development of underlines.
- Carry out planning of modifications and safety updates as per OEM requirements.
- Ensure safe working in accordance with all procedures/guidelines & statutory bodies
- High housekeeping cleanliness standard.
- Paperwork completion on a timely basis.
- Work closely with customers and Sandvik maintenance senior supervisors/foreman to ensure machine availability and to identify and solve problem areas.
- Provide guidance (SOP or SWI) and information regarding technical issues to customer.
- Assist in the organisation of opportune and planned maintenance to a standard that maintains the integrity of the equipment and does not compromise safe operation
- Responsible for safe work environment by contributing to Job Safety analysis, engineering technical standards, facility standards and work practices
- Performing and reviewing planned and breakdown repairs to ensure that heavy mobile equipment availability supports production requirements
- Perform Repair and fault finding using hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
- Provide relevant feedback to enable maintenance planning improvements in terms of efficiency and equipment integrity
- Work towards achieving set KPI’s
- Adhere to all P.T. Sandvik SMC and Freeport’s Policies & Procedures especially the OH&S and Environmental policies whilst also adhering to all Site policy & procedures
- Ensure adherence to Mines Regulation for all work performed
- Report unsafe facilities and practices to the Supervisor/Project Manager
- Carry out all work in accordance to set budgets and timeframes
- Complete all paperwork in a timely and accurate fashion.
Relationships and Authority
- Reports to - UG Counterpart Maintenance Project Manager
- In absence of direct supervision you will report to Project manager
Entry Qualifications and Experience
- Trade qualification in a mechanical/electrical discipline with experience in surface or underground mining/ heavy mobile earthmoving equipment essential
- Knowledge of and experience with Sandvik products will be an advantage
- Excellent communication and presentation skills would be a distinct advantage
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and provide helpful assistance/guidance to members of the team as required.
- Strong computer literacy is required.
- Strong leadership skills are essential
General
- Ability to work as part of an integrated broad team.
- Must be prepared to work surface or underground.
- Must be flexible, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
- Will be required to work surface or underground and must have an understanding of the mining industry.
- High standard of interpersonal skills is desirable.
- Rostered shift work may be required.
Your profile
- Experience in Sandvik range of equipment.
- At least 10 year’s post trade experience in Sandvik UG Drill & Getman’s Utility equipment – a distinct advantage.
- Ability to work as part of a management team.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong focus on safety, never taking short cuts is a must.
- Strong knowledge of Quality Systems.
- Computer Systems Literacy is essential.
- Provide technical advice and procedure details to service technicians as required.
- Exposure to maintenance planning systems would be an advantage.
- A proven record in report writing skills would be beneficial.
- Understanding of Mine Health and Safety Regulations is required.
- Knowledge of and experience with Sandvik products will be an advantage.
