Job Summary:

Advanced-level role for nursing students. This position offers immersive clinical experiences that prepare participants for transition into professional nursing through hands-on care and structured mentorship. Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff and participate in department-specific orientation and competency development.

Job Duties:

• Assist with activities for daily living, non-invasive patient care tasks.

• Document care and observations accurately in the electronic medical record.

• Promptly report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel.

• Collect and transport specimens per policy.

• Provide one-to-one patient safety observation as assigned.

• Assist with patient transfers and transport.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and ethical behavior in all interactions.

• Participate in orientation, training, and ongoing development sessions.

• Perform point-of-care testing and quality control procedures as trained.

• Transport non-controlled medications and blood products per policy.

• Assist with procedures under direct supervision.

• Collaborate with nursing staff to support individualized patient care plans.

• Apply clinical judgment in routine situations with guidance.

• Engage in unit-based learning activities and professional development seminars.

• Demonstrate increasing independence and initiative in clinical settings.

• Participate in clinical observations and evaluations to enhance assessment skills.

• Perform advanced patient care tasks under supervision

• Assist with preparation, storage, and delivery of breast milk and pediatric formulas.

• Apply critical thinking and clinical decision-making in complex care scenarios.

• Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.

• Participate in regulatory readiness activities.

• Co-lead patient care activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

• Attend advanced seminars focused on transition to practice, leadership, and evidence-based care.

Position Details:

• Must be enrolled and remain enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Must successfully complete a 2-week orientation training
• Per diem position with rotating shifts

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)

Certification(s) and License(s):

Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months - Default Issuing Body
