The D'Andrea lab investigates chromosome instability and susceptibility to cancer. Our laboratory examines the molecular signaling pathways which regulate the DNA damage response in mammalian cells. Disruption of these pathways, by germline or somatic mutation, leads to genomic instability, cellular sensitivity to ionizing radiation, and defective cell cycle checkpoints and DNA repair. These pathways are often disrupted in cancer cells, accounting for the chromosome instability and increased mutation frequency in human tumors. The D’Andrea lab employs a wide range of technologies for the measurement of DNA damage response in cancer cell lines, including cytotoxicity measurements, radiation sensitivity testing, and proteomic biomarker measurements. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Complete requisite safety trainings for working in laboratory
• Meet and interact with team members to understand scope of projects
• Familiarize self with cancer biology 
• Attend lab meetings, group meetings and site wide invited speaker seminars
• Present project progress at lab/group meetings as appropriate
• Work with members of the D’Andrea lab to provide computational and bioinformatic analyses based on project requirements.
