We’re also proud to have been recognised as one of the AFR’s Top 10 Best Places to Work and certified by Great Place to Work across 2022–2025. For people who want to make a meaningful impact in a growing business, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
Our Purpose
✅ Empower Australian businesses to trade confidently with their customers.
Our Mission
🏆 We aim to be number one in our industry by delivering unique data insights and innovative products.
Your role & team 🚀
This is an opportunity to help shape CreditorWatch’s next chapter. You’ll own strategic projects from the first question through to an executive decision — and beyond, to making sure something actually changes.
This is a build role, not a support role. You’ll be given complex business questions, not a pre-written task list. You’ll frame the problem, determine the analysis needed, build the case and bring stakeholders with you. You’ll also help shape how strategy gets done at CreditorWatch, building an AI-enabled strategy function that evolves as better tools and approaches emerge.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the executive team and board, on opportunities that could shape the direction of the business over the next three years.
📍 Location: Sydney CBD
💼 Working arrangements: Full-time, hybrid
🤝 Reporting to: Chief Strategy Officer
What you’ll own 🔍
💡 Find the answer
- Identify and size the strategic opportunities that could matter most to CreditorWatch over the next three years.
- Use our data to uncover insights, challenge assumptions and surface new questions.
- Bring an external perspective through competitor analysis, adjacent markets and international trends.
- Build commercially grounded financial models to support investment decisions.
- Develop a deep understanding of our business economics so you can test and challenge strategic choices.
📣 Make the case
- Own the strategic narrative: where we’re going, why it matters and what needs to be true for the strategy to work.
- Turn analysis into clear recommendations for the executive team and board.
- Present your point of view, invite challenge and influence decisions — including when there’s disagreement.
- Measure success by the decisions made, direction set and outcomes delivered.
⚙️ Build how strategy gets done
- Create the rhythms and processes that help ideas get framed, tested, challenged, committed to or stopped.
- Build tools and workflows that make strategy more effective and repeatable.
- Stress-test your own thinking and encourage a culture of constructive challenge.
- Keep improving how the strategy function operates as the business and available tools evolve.
Put AI to work 🤖
AI is part of how we work across the strategy process, from early research to board-ready recommendations. We’re looking for someone who uses it regularly, knows where it adds value and can recognise when it gets things wrong.
The tools will keep changing. What matters is your judgement: the questions you ask, the output you challenge, what you choose to discard and the recommendations you’re prepared to own.
What success looks like in your first six months 🏁
- You’ve led at least one strategic project from the first question through to a decision.
- You’ve introduced a new way of working that didn’t exist before — and others are using it.
- People across the business understand what you’re working on and why it matters.
- You’ve challenged an existing assumption and changed how people think about an important business question.
What you’ll bring 🧠
- Experience: 5+ years in management consulting, corporate strategy or a comparable role, ideally in technology or data.
- Ownership: You can take work end-to-end, from framing the problem and running the analysis to making recommendations and aligning stakeholders.
- Analytical storytelling: You know how to lead with the answer, back it up with evidence and make complex ideas easy to understand.
- Commercial acumen: You’re comfortable with financial modelling and know how to build a model that answers the question, rather than overcomplicating it.
- AI experience: You use AI hands-on and understand the importance of applying judgement rather than accepting its output at face value.
- Confidence to challenge: You’re comfortable questioning assumptions, being challenged yourself and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Adaptability: You can move quickly between priorities and make progress in a changing business.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
A note on AI ✨
Use it. We’d think less of you if you didn’t.
Write the first draft of your application yourself, then use AI to sharpen it rather than replace your thinking. You can also expect to use AI during at least one stage of the interview process. We’re interested in how you work with it, not whether you can work without it.
