Job Description Summary:
At Swinerton, the Strategic Pursuits team supports the acquisition of work through pursuit strategy, proposal development, presentations, marketing materials, and coordination with teams across the organization. The Marketing Pursuits team brings together branding, content development, research, project information, and collaboration to help communicate Swinerton's qualifications and differentiate the company in competitive pursuits.As a Marketing Pursuits Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the development of proposals, presentations, marketing materials, and the information and assets used by Swinerton's pursuit teams.
Working alongside experienced marketing professionals, you will learn the fundamentals of pursuit marketing while supporting active projects and assignments. You may assist with researching clients and projects; developing and updating resumes, project profiles, and other qualifications materials; formatting and proofreading proposal content; creating basic marketing collateral; maintaining marketing information; and supporting presentations and client-facing activities.
Throughout the internship, you will gain exposure to Swinerton's people, projects, services, markets, and pursuit process, while developing foundational skills in professional writing, graphic layout, project coordination, research, branding, and stakeholder communication.
Job Description:
The Marketing Pursuits Intern's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Proposal + Pursuit Support
- Assist Marketing Pursuits team members with active proposals, qualifications packages, and other pursuit deliverables.
- Gather and organize information about Swinerton projects, people, experience, and capabilities for inclusion in pursuit materials.
- Format proposal sections, resumes, project sheets, and other content using established templates and brand standards.
- Assist with proofreading and quality control for accuracy, consistency, grammar, formatting, and compliance.
- Conduct basic client, project, market, and competitor research to support pursuit development.
- Assist with basic writing and editing of proposal and marketing content under the guidance of Marketing Pursuits team members.
- Participate in selected pursuit meetings, strategy discussions, kickoffs, and review meetings to develop an understanding of the pursuit lifecycle.
- Assist with production and finalization of pursuit deliverables as needed.
Marketing Content + Materials
- Assist in developing and updating project sheets, overview one-pagers, presentations, flyers, and other marketing collateral.
- Support basic graphic layout and document production using established Swinerton templates.
- Help identify and organize photography, graphics, project information, and other assets for marketing and pursuit materials.
- Support preparation of materials for client events, conferences, trade shows, and other regional marketing activities.
- Assist with jobsite photography and content gathering opportunities as assigned.
Data + Asset Management
- Assist in maintaining accurate employee resumes, project descriptions, experience information, and marketing assets.
- Support updates to Unanet CRM and other designated marketing databases and platforms.
- Assist with organizing and cataloging content developed through pursuit activities.
- Perform basic research and data collection to help ensure marketing information is current, accurate, and readily accessible.
Interview + Presentation Support
- Assist with preparation of presentation materials, including PowerPoint presentations, graphics, handouts, and leave-behind materials.
- Support presentation and rehearsal logistics as assigned.
- Incorporate directed edits and feedback into presentation materials.
- Observe presentation preparation and rehearsal sessions to gain exposure to how pursuit teams prepare for client interviews.
Professional Development + Exposure
- Participate in Marketing Pursuits team meetings and selected regional or sector meetings.
- Attend jobsite visits and other field learning opportunities as available.
- Participate in shadowing opportunities with Business Development, Operations, project teams, and other functions.
- Develop familiarity with the AEC industry, construction terminology, Swinerton's markets and services, and the company's pursuit process.
- Seek feedback, ask questions, and actively participate in learning opportunities throughout the internship.
Minimum Skills + Experience Requirements- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, journalism, business, graphic design, or a related field.
- Interest in marketing, communications, proposal development, business development, or the AEC industry.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to proofread and review work carefully.
- Organized and able to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with guidance.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently on clearly defined assignments.
- Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and subject matter.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
- Interest in developing skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign.
- Comfortable receiving direction, incorporating feedback, and asking questions when clarification is needed.
- Professional judgment, reliability, and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
- Previous marketing, communications, design, construction, or professional office experience is helpful but not required.
