As a Standby Letter of Credit Specialist, you'll play a vital role in supporting sophisticated commercial and corporate clients by managing complex standby letter of credit transactions that help drive business forward.

This is not a traditional operations role. We are seeking a highly skilled standby letter of credit professional who thrives on navigating complex transactions, collaborating with business partners, and serving as a trusted subject matter expert. If you enjoy balancing client needs, regulatory requirements, and risk management while working on challenging and impactful transactions, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As a key member of Global Trade & Standby Services (GTSS), you will manage and administer a portfolio of standby letters of credit throughout the full transaction lifecycle. You'll partner with Relationship Managers, Credit, Compliance, Legal, clients, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and sound risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, structure, and negotiate standby letter of credit language and terms while ensuring alignment with bank standards and client requirements.
  • Manage the complete standby letter of credit lifecycle, including issuance, amendments, renewals, advising, confirmations, draws, and releases.
  • Support complex standby letter of credit structures, including syndicated facilities, direct-pay and IRB support transactions, counter standby letters of credit, and counter-counter standby letters of credit.
  • Verify required credit approvals and facility availability before processing transactions.
  • Apply industry rules and standards including ISP98 and UCP 600 to support transaction execution and client guidance.
  • Review draw presentations and associated documentation for compliance with letter of credit terms.
  • Identify discrepancies, communicate findings, and coordinate timely resolutions with stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for clients, beneficiaries, Relationship Managers, Legal, Compliance, and internal business partners.
  • Monitor a high-volume portfolio while maintaining accuracy, service excellence, and operational controls.
  • Escalate exceptions, operational risks, and urgent issues while providing meaningful insights on portfolio trends and activity.

Build Valuable Partnerships

Collaborate daily with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, Legal Counsel, Compliance teams, clients, beneficiaries, and industry professionals.
