About Bobyard
Construction is a multi-trillion-dollar industry that still estimates by hand. Contractors measure and count materials off drawings manually, and it caps how many jobs they can bid. Bobyard uses computer vision and NLP to automate takeoffs and estimates, so contractors bid faster and win more. We raised a $35M Series A led by 8VC, with Primary and Pear, and we're growing fast.

About the role
You'll own the architecture of our core platform across React, Django, and PostgreSQL, and set the bar for the engineers building on it. The hard part: huge drawings, dense estimates, and CV output contractors check line by line, in one app that has to stay fast as we add trades.

What you'll do
• Own platform architecture end to end: APIs, data models, frontend, and infra
• Make design calls that hold at 100x usage, and document them
• Lead cross-team work with CV, product, and design from scope to launch
• Ship complete features yourself across the stack
• Set standards for code review, testing, and performance
• Run production on AWS and GCP, and cut operational load
• Mentor engineers and raise the hiring bar

What we're looking for
• 8+ years building and running production web apps, frontend through infra
• Deep React and Python backend experience (Django preferred)
• You've owned the architecture of a system that scaled to significant usage
• You've led technical direction across teams and mentored engineers
• Product judgment. You know why we're building it and protect scope
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and specialized experience

Nice to have
• Canvas-heavy or data-dense interfaces
• Early or founding engineer experience at a startup
• Exposure to construction or other real-world industries

A note on pace
We move fast, and priorities shift as we learn from customers. Playbooks, context, and requirements are often incomplete when work starts, and you'll be expected to shape them. If that pace excites you, you'll fit in well.
