ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Sr. Work Control Planner to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Support work control and work package development for unique and/or complex activities in specialized facilities.
Prepare, review, and issue equipment and system modification, corrective maintenance, and preventive maintenance work packages.
Analyze time and material requirements for complex work activities.
Prepare detailed material specifications and labor estimates.
Lead the development of step-by-step work instructions for complex activities.
Manage and expedite established work package priorities.
Develop and/or review instructions for the isolation, containment, and de-energization of mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems.
Develop and manage associated permits, testing requirements, documentation, records, database information, and training requirements.
Ensure work control activities comply with laboratory procedures, industry regulations, and applicable governance requirements.
Ensure work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet established quality requirements and specifications.
Conduct research and investigate alternative solutions to complex work control and planning problems.
Recommend solutions to issues affecting work control and planning.
Prepare and present work control reports.
Communicate work control and planning requirements to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Provide functional and operational direction to maintenance, operations support, and/or clerical personnel, as assigned.
Work closely with maintenance and operations management, engineers, technicians, and facility personnel.
Maintain compliance with all laboratory safety and security requirements.
Identify and stop work when conditions are unsafe or security requirements may be compromised.
Foster a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
Extensive experience with work control, work planning, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance in unique or complex facilities.
Extensive knowledge of work hazards, safety practices, operating configurations, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and the ability to interpret:
Blueprints
Engineering drawings
Schematics
Technical documentation
Experience using computerized work management systems to maintain and track work-planning activities.
Demonstrated ability to research complex problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make recommendations.
About the Site
The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
