Job Summary
Role Purpose
Candescent is seeking an experienced Senior Web Developer to lead our Webflow development efforts from one of our India office locations. This role combines hands-on technical work with technical leadership. You will set technical direction, own the build quality, performance, and scalability of our web presence, and oversee the work of other developers and designers.
This is a hands-on role. You will personally build and troubleshoot complex work while also raising the standard of everything the team produces through review, documentation, and shared practices.
In addition to individual craft, this role carries senior leadership responsibility for the India-based web development team, including accountability for the team’s collective output and close coordination with the US-based Digital Experience lead.

What you will be responsible for and what you will do
Technical Ownership & Architecture
- Own the technical architecture of our Webflow sites, including CMS structure, custom code integrations, and third-party API and app integrations.
- Lead the design-to-development process, translating Figma mockups into responsive, accessible, high-performance pages.
- Manage Webflow site settings, hosting, staging environments, versioning, and publishing workflows.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including custom interactions and animations built with Webflow native tools or GSAP.
Standards, Quality & Performance
- Establish and enforce best practices for site structure, SEO markup, page speed, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser and device compatibility.
- Conduct code and design reviews and lead QA before launches.
- Optimise pages for Core Web Vitals and overall site performance.
- Maintain documentation of site structure, components, integrations, and workflows so knowledge is shared rather than held individually.
Marketing Systems Integration
- Own the integration of Marketo forms, landing pages, and tracking within the website, ensuring accurate lead capture and clean data flow into marketing automation.
- Oversee implementation of tracking and analytics tags including GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Marketo Munchkin.
- Support experimentation by ensuring test variants and experiment code can be implemented reliably.
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as the senior technical lead for web in India, overseeing the day-to-day work of other developers and designers and setting the quality bar.
- Be accountable for the collective deliverables of the India web development team, including prioritisation, workload balancing, timelines, and consistent quality.
- Coordinate closely with the US-based Digital Experience lead on priorities, intake, status, escalations, and technical direction.
- Coach and develop team members on Webflow craft, standards, and production discipline.
- Manage relationships with external agencies or freelance contractors when needed.
- Maintain a working schedule with sufficient overlap with US business hours on at least a few days each week to enable live collaboration, reviews, and handoffs.
Experience
Demonstrated skills, competencies, and required experience
- 6–9 years of web development experience, including at least 3 years building and maintaining production sites in Webflow.
- At least 2 years in a senior, lead, or management capacity, overseeing the work of other developers or designers.

- Strong command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including custom code embeds within Webflow.
- Experience integrating and troubleshooting Marketo or a comparable marketing automation platform on a website.
- Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser and device testing.
- Experience implementing tracking and analytics tags such as GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
- Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals as they relate to site markup, structure, and performance.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.
