POSITION PURPOSE

The RFP Associate Editor plays a lead role in supporting T. Rowe Price’s sales and client-retention objectives in Japan. The role independently leads the development and delivery of Japanese-language Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs) and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs), working closely with client-facing teams and subject matter experts - in the project management and completion of prospect and client information requests - with the objective of winning and/or retaining business.

The RFP Associate Editor manages the entire proposal process for assigned projects. The role collaborates with senior stakeholders across Sales, Client Service, Marketing, Investments, Legal, Compliance and other business units to position T. Rowe Price and its capabilities accurately and persuasively. It develops high-quality Japanese responses by localizing approved English-language content and drafting Japan-specific content where required. The role works independently with minimal guidance, leads projects or work streams, and provides guidance to less-experienced colleagues.

Principal Responsibilities

The RFP Associate Editor is responsible for managing the proposal process and the related network of internal and external constituents, which includes:

  • Lead the strategy and execution of Japanese-language RFPs, RFIs and DDQs. Work with sales, client service and investment professionals to understand client needs, determine the response approach and clearly articulate the firm’s strengths for Japanese institutional and intermediary audiences.
  • undefined
  • Coordinate the stakeholders required for proposal delivery. Identify outliers and appropriate subject matter experts, agree deadlines, verify sources, and ensure new or revised content is reviewed, approved and captured. Where appropriate, mentor RFP Specialists and other less-experienced team members.
  • undefined
  • Own the quality and development of Japanese RFP content in Responsive and other approved repositories. Select, localize, draft, edit and maintain responses based on approved global content, ensuring product alignment, consistent terminology, content governance and relevance to the Japanese market.
  • undefined
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects from planning through final delivery, including prioritization, dependencies, content integration, quality control, risk escalation and record keeping.
  • undefined
  • Improve proposal processes, library content and standards for Japanese drafting and localization. Use approved technology, AI and automation responsibly to improve quality, consistency and efficiency while maintaining required review and approval controls.
  • undefined
  • Lead complex proposals across multiple products and services, and support RFP Editors on the largest, most complex or fully customized proposals.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • University/ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in RFPs, institutional investment, asset management, financial writing or a related discipline, including proposal development, Japanese content creation and editing, project ownership and stakeholder management.
  • Experience independently leading deadline-driven RFP, RFI or DDQ projects across multiple investment products or services.
  • Native or near-native Japanese writing and editing capability, with the ability to draft clear, accurate and persuasive responses and localize complex English investment content without changing the approved meaning.
  • Business-level English communication skills sufficient to work effectively in a US-headquartered global asset management firm and communicate confidently with global stakeholders in meetings, emails and discussions.
  • In-depth knowledge of investment products and services, institutional portfolio concepts, and the qualitative and quantitative information commonly required in Japanese proposals.
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, including the ability to work with senior subject matter experts and client-facing professionals.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and deadline dependencies.
  • Strong analytical and editorial judgment, including the ability to assess content and data for accuracy, relevance and consistency, identify gaps and escalate material risks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, lead projects or work streams, and provide guidance to colleagues with less experience.
  • Sound understanding of business technology and the responsible use of approved AI and automation tools, while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy and review controls.

Preferred:

  • Direct experience developing Japanese-language RFPs or DDQs within the investment management industry.
  • Experience maintaining Japanese content in an RFP repository, ideally Responsive, including content governance and review cycles.
  • Experience in translation, localization or financial writing involving complex investment concepts and approved English-language source material.
  • Experience contributing to proposal-process improvement, content standards, or responsible AI and automation initiatives.
