The Role
Proofpoint's Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) product helps customers find sensitive data across the cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments they run, then shows where the real risk sits and helps them act on it. It is one of the faster-moving products in Proofpoint's data security portfolio, and it is growing quickly.
We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to own a core part of DSPM and drive it to market. This is a role with real ownership. You decide what gets built in your area, work shoulder to shoulder with engineering to ship it, and are measured on the impact it has with customers. It suits someone who wants to shape a fast-growing product, not maintain a settled one.
This is a hands-on, senior individual-contributor product role. It reports into Data Security product management and partners closely with the engineering teams that build DSPM. It is built for someone who has been a product manager in cybersecurity, or a sales engineer or solutions architect with the technical depth to move into core product management.
Responsibilities
You will drive outcomes through ownership of your area and close work across teams, not by managing people.
Own a core area of DSPM end to end. Own its roadmap, help set its strategy, and carry it from idea through delivery and launch.
You own the outcome you drive: the adoption and the impact, not just the features you ship.
Take it to market with engineering.
Turn the roadmap into shipped releases at a predictable cadence and make the hard calls a data-scanning product forces, from coverage against accuracy to speed against cost.
Own the customer and market signal for your area. Stay close to customers and the field, track where your part of the market is moving, and turn what you learn into a prioritized plan you can defend with evidence.
Go after the messy, high-effort problems in your area and get them right, not just the quick wins. Grow your scope across DSPM.
The product runs from how sensitive data is discovered and scanned, to the risk that surfaces as findings, to what customers do about it. Start with one area, do it well, and take on more as you grow.
What You Bring to the Team
Experience as a product manager in cybersecurity, or as a sales engineer / solutions architect ready to move into core product management, with the technical depth to back it.
A track record of owning a product area and driving it from roadmap to adopted product, and standing behind your priority calls with engineering and stakeholders
Evidence of relevant technical depth.
Ability to reason about how data gets discovered, scanned, and assessed for risk, and hold your own with the engineers who build that pipeline.
AI fluency - You already use AI tooling to do your own work faster, and you look for ways to build that same speed into how your product area and your team operate.
Clear writing and speaking. You can put a tight product brief and a defensible prioritization case on the page and in the room.
Preferred Experience
Background in data security, DSPM, DLP, or an adjacent cloud and SaaS security area.
Experience owning a technically deep product: a detection or scanning engine, a data-processing pipeline, or a similar backend area where correctness and scale both matter.
Familiarity with the environments DSPM works across, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Microsoft 365, Snow flake, and Salesforce.
Comfort working as a senior individual contributor, driving outcomes through influence rather than a reporting line.
