Target Creative’s Brand Design Lab (BDL) is the in-house creative team dedicated to building and bringing Target’s owned brands to life. Working as one integrated team across the U.S. and India, BDL develops differentiated brand identities, packaging systems and creative expressions that connect strategy, design and storytelling across Target’s portfolio. Some of the brands we have built include Good & Gather, up&up, Hearth & Hand, Cat & Jack, Kindfull and Goodfellow & Co.

About this Opportunity

As a Sr. Manager, Associate Creative Director, you will play a key role in shaping how Target’s owned brands show up through design. You will guide creative teams, establish a strong point of view and ensure our work is distinctive, relevant and unmistakably Target.

Your impact will extend beyond individual projects. You will raise the standard of creative work, make thoughtful and confident creative decisions, grow talent and use design to influence broader brand and business outcomes. Working across Target’s global organization, you will bring together strategy, creativity and craft to build meaningful brand experiences for our guests.

What You’ll Do

• Establish the creative vision and guide teams in building distinctive brand identities, packaging and design systems.
• Set a consistently high standard for creative thinking, design quality and craft across the work.
• Turn brand strategy, business priorities and guest insights into meaningful creative ideas and design solutions.
• Guide the work from early-stage thinking and concept development through design execution and production.
• Make confident creative decisions and give clear, timely and actionable feedback that moves the work forward.
• Build strong creative teams and actively coach, mentor and develop the next generation of creative leaders.
• Oversee multiple complex initiatives, creating focus and making thoughtful decisions across priorities, resources and timelines.
• Partner closely with Creative, Brand, Merchandising, Packaging, Product Development and Project Management across global teams.
• Build alignment and influence outcomes by clearly articulating creative thinking, rationale and recommendations.
• Stay connected to Target’s business, guests, culture, categories and the broader design landscape to bring fresh thinking into the work.
• Look beyond individual assignments to identify opportunities to strengthen our brands, creative capabilities and ways of working.

What You’ll Bring

• 15+ years of experience across brand design, packaging and/or creative direction.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating depth of thinking and excellence across brand identity, packaging and design systems.
• A highly evolved creative eye and strong judgment across brand, design and craft.
• Experience guiding multidisciplinary creative teams and delivering complex creative programs from idea through execution.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex creative thinking clear and compelling.
• The ability to see the bigger picture and connect creative choices to brand strategy, guest needs and business priorities.
• A track record of coaching and developing creative talent and helping others do their best work.
• Confidence working through ambiguity, setting direction and making decisions when there isn’t an obvious answer.
• The ability to build credibility and strong relationships across disciplines, levels, cultures and global teams.
• Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, production processes and emerging tools and technologies.
• Curiosity, adaptability and a desire to continuously learn and evolve as a creative leader.
