About the position:

The Senior Integration Software Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining scalable full-stack web applications, backend services, APIs, and integration components that support RMF business and engineering systems. With 10 – 15 years of professional experience, this role sets the technical direction for complex, cross-system solutions built on .NET Core / C#, Microsoft Azure, and Angular, applying deep expertise in design patterns, SOLID principles, automated testing, secure engineering, and Agile delivery to ensure quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide hands-on technical leadership for one or more RMF applications, setting engineering direction and ensuring solutions meet quality, security, scalability, and maintainability expectations.
• Mentor and coach mid-level and junior engineers through pairing, design guidance, and constructive code reviews to raise overall team capability and engineering maturity.
• Establish, document, and champion engineering standards, coding guidelines, branching strategies, and Definition of Done across the team.
• Lead technical discovery, effort estimation, and risk assessment for complex features and cross-team dependencies, communicating trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Act as an escalation point for critical production issues, leading root cause analysis and driving durable, systemic fixes.

Architecture & Solution Design

• Own end-to-end solution architecture for full-stack and integration components, balancing performance, scalability, resiliency, security, cost, and maintainability.
• Define API contracts, integration patterns, data flows, and service boundaries across enterprise applications, databases, and Azure cloud platforms.
• Evaluate and recommend frameworks, tools, and design approaches, producing architecture decision records and reference designs aligned with Chevron enterprise and CDAS standards.
• Drive modernization, technical debt reduction, and continuous improvement of legacy and greenfield applications within the RMF product line.

Software Engineering & Full-Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, and support scalable backend services, REST APIs, and integration components in production environments.
• Build and maintain full-stack applications using C#, .NET Core / .NET, ASP.NET Web API, and Angular.
• Develop responsive, reusable, and maintainable UI components using Angular, HTML, CSS/SCSS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Apply SOLID principles, object-oriented design, and established design patterns to create extensible and maintainable software solutions.
• Implement integration solutions across enterprise applications, services, databases, and cloud platforms while ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service interfaces, including API documentation using OpenAPI / Swagger.
• Apply engineering practices such as exception handling, validation, logging, versioning, dependency management, structured debugging, and secure configuration management.
• Write clean, readable, testable, and maintainable code aligned with modern engineering standards and team coding practices.
• Create and maintain unit, integration, and regression tests to improve code quality, prevent regressions, and support long-term maintainability.

Cloud & Azure Development Engineering

• Develop and operate applications within an enterprise Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
• Build solutions using Azure PaaS services such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Service Bus, Azure Redis, Azure SQL Database, and other relevant cloud-native services.
• Support deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support of cloud-hosted applications.
• Design solutions for performance, availability, scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and cost awareness in alignment with enterprise cloud standards.
• Work with structured and unstructured data storage solutions including SQL databases, document databases, and storage accounts.
• Demonstrate familiarity with distributed systems, asynchronous processing, messaging, background jobs, and containerization concepts.
• Use Azure monitoring and observability practices to identify issues, improve performance, and support production reliability.

Frontend Engineering & User Experience

• Develop intuitive, accessible, and responsive user interfaces using Angular and modern frontend engineering practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and domain users to understand workflows and convert requirements into effective user experiences.
• Integrate frontend applications with secure backend APIs and cloud-hosted services.
• Maintain frontend code quality through reusable components, modular architecture, state management practices, and consistent UI patterns.
• Optimize frontend performance, browser compatibility, and usability across supported application environments.

Agile Delivery & Collaboration

• Work within Agile teams to deliver features and enhancements iteratively with quality and predictability.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Collaborate effectively with product owners, architects, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, and cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and deliver business value.
• Proactively identify risks, dependencies, technical debt, and improvement opportunities during delivery execution.
• Support production incidents, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities when required.

Generative AI & Modern Engineering Practices

• Use enterprise-approved Generative AI tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to assist with code generation, refactoring, documentation, test creation, and productivity improvement.
• Apply human judgment to validate AI-assisted outputs for security, reliability, maintainability, compliance, and business fit.
• Explore and responsibly adopt emerging engineering practices, including AI-assisted development workflows, within approved enterprise guardrails.
• Demonstrate awareness of Python, GenAI concepts, and data engineering fundamentals to support modern solution development where relevant.

Enterprise Tools & Standards

• Work within Chevron-built tools such as Orion, Azure DevOps Pipelines, ACME, NextPage, and Status where applicable.
• Use commonly adopted tools including GHAZDO, DAST, GitHub Copilot, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps, and ServiceNow.
• Ensure solutions align with Chevron engineering standards including CDAS, cvxcontrols, secure coding expectations, and operational excellence practices.

Required Skills / Qualifications

• 10 – 15 years of professional software engineering experience, with deep, expert-level hands-on expertise in C#, .NET Core / .NET, ASP.NET Web API, and full-stack application development.
• Strong working knowledge of Angular, TypeScript, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS/SCSS for frontend development.
• Experience building cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure PaaS services.
• Hands-on experience with REST API development, backend services, system integration, and SQL-based data access.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, SOLID principles, dependency injection, object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, debugging, source control, and testing.
• Experience using Git and Azure DevOps pipelines for source control, CI/CD, and release automation.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Strong problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and ownership skills.
• Proven experience owning end-to-end solution and integration architecture for enterprise-grade, cloud-hosted applications.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and drive engineering standards and best practices across a team.
• Experience leading design reviews, code reviews, and technical decision-making for complex, cross-system initiatives.
• Ability to engage senior stakeholders, communicate technical trade-offs, and influence architecture and delivery decisions.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
