Job Summary

The Florida Panthers and Amerant Bank Arena are seeking a collaborative, high-energy, dedicated, patient, and agile leader to serve as Sr. Director, Live Events. This industry is not for the faint of heart — days can be long, stakeholders can be demanding, and stress is inherent. But it is dynamic and fun. You will collaborate with various departments including Hockey Operations, promoters, Security, Building Operations, Sales, front-line employees, and third-party vendors.

The Sr. Director, Live Events is responsible for managing, monitoring, and supervising the logistical planning and execution of all assigned arena events — Panthers Hockey, concerts, family shows, religious events, sporting events, ice shows, corporate shows, and all other activities scheduled at the venue. For those with 7+ years in this industry, this role is not a step back from directly working events. This is a role that enables the ability to lead people, processes, and system designs that ensure maximum efficiency and quality of experience for all stakeholders, while also directly overseeing a rotational share of Event Management duties. We are looking for someone who leads calmly under pressure and builds people up.

Job Functions

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Manage relationships between Amerant Bank Arena, the Florida Panthers, War Memorial Auditorium, clients, promoters, partners, and vendors
• In addition to serving as Event Manager within the rotation of Panthers games, concerts, and private events, provide direct oversight, training, and support to Event Managers and Event Coordinators in the Events Department
• Develop and build events from production notes and other forms of communication
• Thoroughly disseminate event information to appropriate departments through meetings, event sheets, and building walkthroughs
• Compose outlines detailing all event setup needs including venue access, security, and show run times
• Assemble show costs for billing and settlement in advance of events
• Schedule rigging and labor for show load-in, performance, and breakdown as requested by the promoter
• Develop and consistently execute standard operating policies and procedures
• Create on-sale and facility maps using AutoCAD, including all pertinent operational information for events
• Conduct regular departmental meetings to communicate relevant information to staff
• Build and maintain high team morale, fostering a positive and upbeat work environment
• Ensure facility safety, readiness, and client satisfaction while safeguarding the arena's interests and enforcing all necessary facility policies
• Participate in production walkthroughs and meetings for future events as requested by the Programming department
• Provide event estimates for potential and confirmed events as requested
• Conduct physical inspections of all areas of the arena to ensure proper setup and patron safety
• Notify the VP, Facility Operations or Sr. Manager, Facilities of any equipment in need of repair or replacement
• Interact with the Guest Experience department as needed, addressing and resolving guest conflicts in a time-critical manner
• Collaborate with the Box Office on house scaling, production kills, and show builds
• Act as Manager on Duty when a senior executive is not present
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
• Minimum of 7 years of event management experience strongly preferred
• Expert-level CAD ability required; experience with AutoCAD is a must
• Experience with 24/7 Software required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Outlook, and MCP platforms
• Strong project management and organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple projects on time and within budget
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate internal departments and external organizations to build relationships and gain support; strong teamwork and collaboration skills required
• Knowledge of facility management principles, building operations, and safety requirements; familiarity with fire and safety codes, health codes, and ADA requirements
• Ability to think creatively, work independently, be self-directed, and show initiative
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and be on-call to build shows when not at the facility

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events, walkthroughs, and inspections
• Occasional pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 25 pounds
• Must be comfortable working in cold arena conditions during hockey season

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt (salaried) position. Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, and be on-call to build shows when not at the facility. Hours vary significantly week to week based on the event calendar, including periods requiring substantially more than a standard 40-hour workweek.
