Overview:

The Senior Director, Cardiology Clinical Operations functions as the senior non-physician executive leader for a significant segment of Sentara Medical Group’s clinical operations. Directs and oversees the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across a substantial portfolio of ambulatory practices, hospital-based practices, and diagnostic service locations within a geographic region and/or clinical service line. Provides leadership and oversight to Directors, Practice Managers, and Team Coordinators to ensure operational excellence, clinical integration, workforce effectiveness, and exceptional patient outcomes.

Leads the development and execution of strategic and operational initiatives that advance clinical quality, patient safety, access to care, provider and staff engagement, care coordination, regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and continuous performance improvement. Partners closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to optimize clinical workflows, standardize best practices, improve patient experience, and support the achievement of organizational quality, service, and population health objectives. Maintains accountability for operational performance, resource stewardship, workforce development, and the effective delivery of care across the continuum.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall business operations of all areas of responsibility, as well as activities that relate to the future growth of specialty care divisions and optimized revenue cycle processes. 

• Executing best practice models, surgical block time fulfillment, and/or shift coverage in partnership with the acute care leaders. 

• Using existing analytics and data, determine growth opportunities and associated value for specialty care division across several markets for opportunities of growth

• Co-Leads Division(s) Provider Meetings and Practice Management Committees to convey divisional performance, hospital/OR coverage challenges, to address practice/operational issues

• Develop operational support strategies to address access, productivity, operational performance, staff retention and patient satisfaction

• Accountable for optimal access to care through robust pre-visit planning and rigorous template management and utilization reviews.

• Appropriate prioritization and good resource management to fulfill operational objectives specific to specialty practice needs.

• Creates positive employee relations and trust through communication, education, consistency, and dependability to enhance provider and team engagement.

• Evaluate impact of programs on quality, experience, and total cost of care.

• Directs coordinated efforts to optimize front end collections and prior authorization approvals.

Education/Experience:

• Masters Degree (required)

• Registered Nurse (preferred)

• 7 years of Healthcare Leadership (required)
