You will join the MR Firmware Engineering team that is fully embedded within Cisco’s Wireless Software Engineering Org. The Quality team builds and runs any and all software and hardware tests to ensure that new releases meet our quality and reliability standards. Our products are used in over a million networks, and our customers rely on our products to serve tens of millions of people. With the large footprint of over 12 million wireless access points deployed worldwide, quality is our highest priority. We are looking for a Software Wi-Fi Engineer who is as passionate about quality as we are. Your contributions will make a direct impact on the success of our business. Cisco’s Wireless Engineering team put customer experience first, own projects from beginning to end, and are empowered to make impactful decisions.

Your Impact

• Design and scale wireless testbed operations to test products and software before market launch
• Design and execute test plans to support next-generation Wi-Fi products and features
• Support firmware engineers in executing test cases, understanding test results, reproducing and investigating bugs
• Collaborate with Functional and Release engineers to plan release timelines for upcoming products and software releases
• Collaborate with Automation engineers to scale, improve and maintain testbed operations
• Collaborate with Platform Engineering, Hardware and Product Management teams to develop reliable and scalable testing processes for existing and upcoming products and software features
• Collaborate with Wi-Fi chipset vendors on a regular basis to troubleshoot and solve low-level Wi-Fi issues that might block releases
• Own test topologies and testbeds from topology-diagram inception, to proof-of-concept testbeds that scale well, all the way to a production test in our release cycle

Minimum Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Networking, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Have 3+ years of experience in Wi-Fi QA and testing technologies/tools
• Strong foundation in the fundamentals of computer wired and wireless networking (VLANs, DHCP, TCP, VoIP)
• Strong foundation of 802.11 wireless standards, RF, channels, and specs on 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz
• Proficiency in writing quality code with one of the programming or scripting languages in Ruby or Python.
• Hands-on experience leveraging AI assistants (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini, Claude) to streamline QA workflows, draft Wi-Fi test plans, and parse test results.
• Experience with UI automation tools like Selenium or Cypress.
• Good understanding of customer deployments and applying those learnings to in-house testing and validations.
• Practical communication skills and proven track record of collaboration with stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in product and software qualification testing
• Experience in automation framework programming
• Experience in configuring wireless routers or access points
• Experience in working with Gitlab, Jenkins and Jira
