Role Synopsis
We’re seeking a senior hands-on AWS Backend Developer with deep cloud architecture expertise and hands‑on AI experience to design, build, and scale agentic AI systems. The candidate will own backend services on AWS, integrate LLMs via secure and cost‑efficient patterns, and deliver production‑grade, observable, and compliant systems for mission‑critical use cases.
Key Accountabilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining existing or new software. In this role, you will provide technical leadership of junior engineers to ensure that the software is highly available, scalable, and secure. You will also be responsible for developing features, improving the software performance, and providing technical support to other teams.
Design and document sophisticated software components, services, and platforms
Implement robust and maintainable code with clear and maintained documentation
Deliver customer value in iterative fashion while working towards longer term systems to solve roadmap goals with increasing efficiency
Serve as a technical lead and own projects end-to-end
Communicate status and changes to the work they are responsible and accountable for, keep all stakeholders informed of changes and updates to original plan
Design test automation on all code implemented through unit testing and integration testing
Work with internal and external teams to bring new platforms to market
Maintain and enhance software frameworks for development
Serve as a technical mentor for other engineers on the team
Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve platform-related issues
Support internal and external audit teams to prepare for and participate in security, software licensing, and regulatory audits, ensuring that all necessary documentation and evidence is available and accurate
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new controls and procedures to address identified compliance gaps or risks
Essential Education:
Bachelor / Master degree in computer science or equivalent experience
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
7–10+ years building production backend systems; 5+ years hands-on with AWS
Solid understanding and experience in AWS core services and emerging AWS technologies such as AWS AgentCore.
Compute: Lambda, ECS, EKS
API & Integration: API Gateway, AppSync, EventBridge, SQS, SNS
Data & Storage: DynamoDB, Aurora (Postgres/MySQL), S3
Networking & Security: VPC, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, CloudFront
Observability: CloudWatch
Orchestration: Step Functions
Authentication & Authorization: IAM Identity Centre, API Gateway authorizers and integration with Microsoft Azure Entra ID
Extensive experience in designing and implementing microservices and event‑driven architectures
Understanding and experience implementing AWS Well‑Architected Framework
AWS certifications highly valued.
Work effectively with various customer enterprise teams (security, AI governance, data platforms etc) to obtain required approvals and sign‑off on solution designs.
Design & Build Agentic Backends: Define low level solution designs and implement backend services that orchestrate agent workflows using AWS primitives and AI frameworks.
Orchestration & Workflows: Implement robust orchestration for multi‑step agent pipelines, including retries, timeouts, and compensating actions.
APIs & services: Build and integrate with secure, low‑latency APIs and event‑driven microservices with AWS services
Collaboration: Partner closely with a highly skilled, tight‑knit team and work cross‑functionally with security, data, data science, UX and customer enterprise platform teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
Hands on - The candidate must be fully hands‑on, actively contributing to coding, design, and implementation of backend services and AWS solutions.
Desirable criteria
Experience in Trading systems or ETRMs (Energy Trading & Risk Management).
Operational experience of running business critical systems.
