Our client, Gateshead Council, is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their Children in Our Care Team. As a Social Worker within the Children in Our Care Team, you will play a vital role in supporting looked-after children and young people. Responsibilities will include care planning, permanency planning, and ensuring that children's voices remain central to all decision-making. The successful candidate will benefit from regular supervision, a collaborative team environment, and flexible working arrangements.
What will your responsibilities be?
- Deliver a high-quality statutory social work service to children in care, in line with current legislation and Gateshead Council policies and procedures.
- Build meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their needs, wishes, and feelings inform all aspects of care planning.
- Undertake assessments, care planning, pathway planning, and statutory reviews to promote positive outcomes.
- Work closely with foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies.
- Support children and young people to achieve permanence through reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship, or adoption where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records, reports, and court documentation in line with professional standards.
- Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice with your line manager.
- Contribute positively to team development, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues where needed.

Qualifications & Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have,
- Social Work England registration.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Post-qualified social work experience.
- Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Social Work.
- Experience working with children in care and looked-after children services.
