Social Media Executive

Location: Home based with some travel

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday with occasional flexibility required

The Social Executive will support Biffa’s day-to-day social media activity, creating and delivering engaging, audience-focused content across priority platforms.

Working within the Strategic Communications team, the role will support strategic communications and integrated campaigns by creating, publishing and optimising social content that supports Biffa’s reputation, growth and community engagement objectives.

The role will manage the social content calendar, working closely with the Head of Strategic Communications and Strategic Communications Manager, Press & Media Officer, Community Executive, divisional marketing teams and subject matter experts to maximise reach and engagement.

The Social Executive will monitor channel performance, identify opportunities to improve content and engagement, support real-time communications and provide insight to inform future campaigns.

The ideal candidate will be a confident social content creator with strong knowledge of social platforms, audience engagement and digital communications, able to produce a range of content and collaborate effectively across the business and with external partners.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day activity across Biffa's owned social media channels, ensuring content is published accurately, consistently and in line with agreed plans and calendars.

• Create, edit, adapt and schedule compelling social content across priority social platforms, ensuring it is optimised for the targeted audiences and channels to drive reach and engagement.

• Support the delivery of integrated strategic communications and broader campaigns through the creation and distribution of social content

• Repurpose content (where relevant) across social channels and formats to maximise reach, engagement and value from communications activity.

• Maintain and manage the social calendar, ensuring activity aligns with strategic communications priorities, campaigns and business objectives.

• Work with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify proactive and planned social content opportunities, gather information and create engaging social assets.

• Support the creation and coordination of photography, video, graphics and multimedia for use in social channels through internal resources and external suppliers where required.

Essential criteria for the role:

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media or a related discipline.

• Previously worked on social media channels for a corporate or agency in a B2B environment.

• Creating content across a range of social media platforms.

• Supporting integrated communications, marketing or content campaigns.

• Experience using social media scheduling, publishing and analytics platforms.

• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities

• Strong digital and social media skills, with experience using platforms such as Canva to create engaging visual content and social media assets, alongside social media management and scheduling tools such as Sprout Social (or similar platforms).
