What you will have an opportunity to do:

Position Summary

Wayfinder Newport is seeking a creative, energetic, and hospitality-driven Social Media & Content Specialist to bring our brand to life through compelling content, storytelling, and digital engagement. This position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day social media presence for Wayfinder Newport and its food & beverage outlets, creating engaging content that showcases the property's unique personality, experiences, events, and guest offerings. The ideal candidate is a strong content creator with a passion for hospitality, photography, videography, social media trends, and community engagement.

This is a 20-hour a week, on-property role requiring regular attendance at events, activations, and hotel experiences to capture real-time content and ensure an authentic representation of the Wayfinder Newport brand. The position may also support marketing, group sales, programming, and special projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Management

• Develop and execute a social media content strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Manage all social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, and emerging platforms.
• Maintain a detailed content calendar and ensure consistent posting schedules.
• Create engaging content that drives brand awareness, engagement, and consideration.
• Responsible for maintaining a content library of photography, video, and user-generated content.

Content Creation

• Capture on-property photography and videography showcasing guestrooms, dining, events, activations, team members, and guest experiences.
• Produce short-form video content, including Instagram Reels, and Stories.
• Write compelling captions and copy reflecting the Wayfinder Newport brand voice.
• Coordinate content production for seasonal campaigns, special events, promotions, and partnerships.

Brand Storytelling

• Highlight Wayfinder Newport's connection to Newport, local businesses, community partnerships, and cultural experiences.
• Showcase lifestyle programming, culinary experiences, weddings, group events, and seasonal offerings.
• Identify opportunities to create authentic, engaging storytelling that differentiates Wayfinder Newport from competitors.

Community Engagement

• Monitor and respond to comments, messages, reviews, and social interactions in a timely manner.
• Build relationships with guests, influencers, local organizations, and community partners.
• Encourage user-generated content and guest participation.

 

Analytics & Reporting

• Track performance metrics including engagement, reach, impressions, follower growth, website traffic, and conversions.
• Produce monthly reporting and recommendations.
• Monitor social media trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the Sales, Marketing, Food & Beverage, and Ownership teams.
• Support marketing campaigns, promotions, special events, and public relations initiatives.
• Assist with coordination of influencer visits, media stays, and content partnerships.
• This position reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing and works closely with the Corporate Marketing Manager.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of social media management, content creation, or digital marketing experience.
• Exceptional photography and videography skills.
• Experience creating and editing short-form video content.
• Strong copywriting and storytelling abilities.
• Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, HeyOrca, or similar creative tools.
• Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, and current social media trends.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events when needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred

• Hospitality, tourism, restaurant, lifestyle, or destination marketing experience.
• Experience working with influencers and brand partnerships.
• Familiarity with analytics platforms and reporting tools.
