Under the direction of the UNH Health Sciences Simulation Center (HSSC), this position performs duties in one of the Rural Health Transformation Educational Core Simulation Mobile Units to support faculty in providing quality simulated learning experiences for students.

Duties/Responsibilities

Simulation Technology Coordination (50%)

  • Track and coordinate equipment and supplies needed for events moving onto and off of mobile unit, including proper storage requirements for during travel and longer term/non-use storage

  • Boot up and shut down simulators, prepare and break down task trainers, simulation rooms and other equipment/props for simulation or skills lab sessions

  • Operate a variety of computers and technical simulation equipment pertaining to simulation scenarios, including virtual reality software and equipment

  • Control simulator software to model simulator’s physiological response to instructor and/or scenario specifications

  • Operate and maintain audio-visual and debriefing systems during simulations

  • Reset rooms in between sessions (restock, replenish supplies as needed)

Simulation Operations Support (25%)

  • Drive and/or travel with mobile simulation unit to various sites in and around rural New Hampshire to provide outreach, workforce development, and simulation training opportunities

  • Maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment and operation manuals

  • Clean equipment as needed (manikin, task trainers)

  • Assist in development, and demonstration of instructional best practices for the use of the manikins and equipment to help elevate the simulation experiences of students and faculty

  • Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals, including: vital sign monitors; IV pumps and feeding pumps; and beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment

  • Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested

  • Provide technical assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff in the use of simulation and skills lab equipment and software

  • Assist in the training of new simulation technicians as hired

Laboratory Operations (25%)

  • Enforce the safety and security of the simulation and skills labs (including mobile unit) according to established procedures, policies, and laws

  • Ensure that simulation and skills laboratories and other assigned areas (including mobile unit) are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition

  • Work with learners during their sessions

  • Facilitate simulation-based experiences and activities in collaboration with health sciences faculty and staff at various sites

  • Assist with laboratory needs including setup and cleanup for lab learning activities, manage lab supplies and provide overall student and faculty lab support.

  • Collaborate with health sciences faculty to provide consistent and relevant student learning experiences to meet the course objectives

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences Clinical related field

Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • Driver’s license

  • Organizational skills and the ability to follow directions

  • Demonstrated interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.

  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment based on changing policies, procedures and clinical needs.

  • Able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously

 

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and support training logistics as needed. Occasional travel required.

  • Background checks (work with minors)

  • Motor vehicle records check (to drive university-owned vehicles)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of simulation experience, working with simulation in an educational institution or equivalent setting

  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)

Compensation Pay Range:

$19.27 - $31.75
