As a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) with Michels Canada in Nisku, you’ll take a lead role in keeping our mobile heavy equipment and fleet vehicles running safely and reliably. You’ll guide day-to-day shop work—repair, overhaul, and preventative maintenance—while tackling complex jobs in a fast-paced environment. Just as important, you’ll help foster a collaborative, supportive shop culture where the team can do their best work. This position is based in Nisku, AB.

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identifying and communicating workplace hazards and correcting or seeking assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
• Keeping equipment available and job-ready by performing diagnostics and preventative maintenance.
• Documenting work performed, parts used and repairs completed by entering accurate information in the Fleet Software system.
• Upholding company culture and core values by adhering to Michels Canada's Standards and Policies and working with others to promote and preserve our values while conducting your duties to contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) certification, with truck and trailer experience; Red Seal Off-Road is preferred.
• 3rd or 4th year apprentices will be considered.
• minimum 2 years' experience performing maintenance and repairs on equipment ranging from heavy trucks, trailers, yellow iron and off-road construction equipment (e.g., excavators, skid steers, front-end loaders, HDD rigs).
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Able to move and operate equipment.
• Have a strong awareness and attitude towards workplace health and safety.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Valid driver’s license.
