What we do at Weir
We are a global leader in mining technology for a sustainable future. We help our customers extract the resources the world needs more efficiently and more sustainably. Our planet’s future depends on the transition to renewable energy, and that transition can only happen with the metals and minerals our customers deliver. So, we work side by side with mines across the globe to move less rock, use less energy, use water wisely, and create less waste. Together, we drive the shift to smart, efficient, and more sustainable mining.

Make your impact

We are currently seeking a Senior SHE Business Partner to support Western Australia. This person supports three sites across Perth, Kalgoorlie and Port Headland, and has a SHE Business Partner directly reporting to them.

You’ll play a key role in solving real-world challenges. You’ll apply your skills to deliver results that matter whether that’s through engineering, planning or customer support. You’ll work with purpose, learn every day and help shape a more sustainable future.

What you’ll do

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and oversee strategic SHE initiatives aligned with business objectives to drive a high-performing safety culture. Provide expert advice to senior leaders on SHE matters, emerging risks, and legislative changes. Lead regional SHE improvement initiatives and embed accountability for SHE outcomes across the business.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant safety, health, and environmental regulations. Conduct audits and inspections, escalate unresolved risks, and verify the effectiveness of critical risk controls. Lead the development and review of Site Emergency Management Plans.

  • Engagement & Training: Collaborate with Learning & Development and operational leaders to identify SHE capability needs. Develop and oversee targeted training programs, coach leaders and SHE personnel, and monitor training effectiveness to build organisational capability.

  • Incident Management: Lead ICAM investigations for significant incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions. Support and coach leaders in incident investigations and monitor incident trends to drive continuous improvement

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with operational leaders, employees, contractors, customers, and external stakeholders. Maintain a regular physical presence at sites through visits and leadership engagement. Represent Weir at external forums and promote SHE excellence.

  • Continuous Improvement: Champion the Weir Zero Harm behaviours program and drive SHE cultural maturity. Lead strategic improvement initiatives, conduct benchmarking, and analyse SHE performance data to identify opportunities for enhancement.

  • Role specifics: This role is predominantly site-based with an expectation of being onsite five days per week. The successful candidate will travel regularly, including monthly trips to Port Hedland and approximately three annual visits to Kalgoorlie. Success will be measured by improved SHE performance, strong stakeholder engagement, and effective leadership in high-risk operational environments.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

  • Formal safety qualifications and ICAM investigation certification/training

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety role within heavy industrial, manufacturing, or mining environments

  • Proven ability to engage effectively across all organisational levels, from frontline employees to senior leadership

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with a practical, operational focus

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Shield systems (trainable on the job)

  • Previous people leadership experience

  • Exposure to return-to-work activities and injury management coordination

  • Demonstrated ability to build credibility in high-risk operational settings
