An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Overhaul Operations - Project Desk Lead to join Rolls-Royce’s Aftermarket Operations P&C Team in Derby.
Overhaul Operations Planning and Control is responsible for the management of overhaul services for the installed Rolls-Royce fleet, and for the achievement of Quality, Delivery and Cost business objectives across our global network of overhaul providers.
The Overhaul Operations - Project Desk Lead will be responsible for driving engine throughput across the network, clearly articulating status at all times and driving continuous improvement initiatives to further enhance business performance.
This role provides significant exposure to internal and external stakeholders, opportunities for global travel and career development within Rolls-Royce. We are looking for an individual with high levels of drive, energy and enthusiasm, together with a background in business and continuous improvement, to take on this business-critical role.
What you will be doing:
- Act as a single point of contact, knowing and clearly articulating at all times the status of engine shop visits throughout the overhaul network for a defined portfolio of products.
- Ensure the progress of engines through the Off-Wing Operations gated process, taking decisions as necessary and in compliance with key operational processes to minimise shop visit turnaround time (TRT) and cost.
- Liaise directly with key contacts across Rolls-Royce and our overhaul providers to identify key issues and hazards preventing shop visit progress, particularly those for which Rolls-Royce is responsible for resolving.
- Maintain visual management and management information/reporting for a defined portfolio of products and lead relevant standard diary reviews.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, both within Rolls-Royce and externally, particularly with relevant overhaul providers.
- Identify systemic issues impacting shop visit TRT and cost and ensure appropriate ownership and focus within overhaul providers and/or Rolls-Royce teams to drive timely resolution.
- Participate in the engine launch process, ensuring real-time feedback from operations informs decisions regarding the launch of products into work-in-process (WIP).
- Participate in the establishment and/or change management of key planning assumptions impacting the shop visit plan.
- Know, interpret and ensure compliance with the Engine Management Plan (EMP), challenging it as appropriate for a defined portfolio of products.
Position Qualifications:
- Background in and aptitude for continuous improvement, lean operations and project management/control.
- High degree of self-motivation, flexibility, initiative and action orientation, with the ability to drive activity and support business-critical delivery.
- Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate engine shop visit status and key issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good IT skills, with the ability to maintain management information, reporting and visual management.
- Ability and willingness to travel globally.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience of working within an overhaul environment and/or the airline industry, with operational and repair experience on gas turbines. A comprehensive induction programme will be provided.
- Strong understanding of engine components, systems and functionality.
- Familiarity with Maximo for Aviation ERP software
- Familiarity with PowerBi
- Intermediate excel skills
