Senior Staff Nurse (Outpatients)

Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Rd, London (SW5 0TU)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

Shifts:

Monday to Friday - 8am to 8pm

Saturday – 8am to 2pm

Salary: Circa £49,495 a year - dependent on experience

The Senior Staff Nurse will lead a nursing team in delivering optimum patient care and deputise for the Clinical Unit Manager as required providing clinical support to the nursing team across the Outpatient Department.

The Senior Staff Nurse will undertake the Nurse in Charge role as rostered and participate in clinical audit and demonstrate evidence-based outcomes in care delivery

How you’ll help us make health happen:

• Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey whilst demonstrating a culture of customer service
• Assist the Clinical Unit Manager with operational requirements in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey whilst instilling a culture of customer service throughout the nursing team.

• Manage a team of nurses by organising the daily allocation.
• Provide consistent, clear, clinical and professional leadership and act as a mentor for all staff demonstrating professional awareness and accountability.
• Participate in the direct nursing care of patients as a clinical leader and expert.
• Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area reporting to and from meetings / training updates.
• Deputise for the Clinical Unit Manager in their absence.
• Undertake clinical duties in any area that is reasonably requested ensuring that you practice within your professional competencies and abilities
• Relate to the Clinical Unit Manager / Lead Nurse regarding professional issues
• Help foster a supportive working environment and maintenance of staff morale through mutual regard and respect recognising and valuing contributions from individuals within the ward team.
• To act as a mentor for other nurses including students, identifying resources and participate in the practice development programmes for junior staff.
• Participate in the personal performance management (PPM) process with junior staff 
• Monitor and manage the nursing allocation for your team.
• Participate in clinical, business and operational nursing projects as required following delegation from the Clinical Unit Manager.
• In the absence of the Clinical Unit Manager act as the liaison nurse with stakeholders.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required.
• ILS qualification required.
• Competent with immunisation training, wound care management and venepuncture.
• Appropriate experience in a Staff Nurse role in an OPD setting.
• Experience of broad range of specialities and the support they require.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Experience in the development of policies and protocols to support best practice.
• Experience in handling complaints and incidents.

• Experience in risk assessment
