Position Summary

The Sr. Specialist, Warehousing is responsible for coordinating and executing the warehousing activities that support the company’s utility-scale renewable energy portfolio. The role supports the sourcing, contracting, mobilization, and ongoing administration of third-party warehouses used to store high-value owner-furnished equipment, with particular emphasis on photovoltaic modules, large power transformers, inverters, battery energy storage equipment, and related balance-of-plant materials. This position serves as a senior individual contributor responsible for warehouse readiness, safe handling, inventory integrity, service-provider coordination, documentation accuracy, and timely release of equipment to project sites, escalating key risks and decisions to management as needed.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support warehousing strategy execution for major renewable energy equipment, including capacity tracking, geographic coverage analysis, facility evaluation, cost visibility, and contingency planning.
  • Coordinate the sourcing, evaluation, negotiation support, and administration of third-party warehousing and logistics services agreements, including scopes of work, rate structures, service levels, insurance requirements, security, liability, claims, change control, and transition support.
  • Perform and coordinate operational due diligence of warehouse providers, including facility capability, indoor and outdoor storage suitability, structural and yard capacity, security, fire protection, environmental controls, access, labor availability, and business continuity.
  • Validate that warehouses can safely receive, unload, store, preserve, inspect, and reload oversized and high-value equipment. Confirm availability and suitability of cranes, rigging, forklifts, heavy-haul access, lifting plans, qualified operators, laydown areas, and manufacturer-specific handling requirements.
  • Apply industry-specific storage and handling requirements for PV modules and large transformers, including pallet and serial-number traceability, physical segregation, stacking restrictions, damage prevention, weather protection, preservation activities, oil-filled equipment considerations, and coordination with original equipment manufacturers.
  • Coordinate inbound delivery, receipt, inspection, discrepancy documentation, damage segregation, storage, inventory reporting, and outbound release to project sites in alignment with construction schedules and site readiness.
  • Monitor third-party warehouse performance through operating reviews, key performance indicators, issue logs, corrective actions, invoice validation, claims management, and escalation of service, safety, schedule, cost, or inventory exceptions.
  • Maintain clear chain of custody and complete supporting documentation for equipment movements, including bills of lading, packing lists, delivery receipts, inspection records, photographs, release orders, and warehouse inventory reports.
  • Ensure equipment is segregated and traceable by purchase order, project, pallet, serial number, material, and storage location as required, preventing commingling or unauthorized movement of inventory.
  • Partner with Procurement, Project Management, Construction, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, Risk, Insurance, and equipment category leads to resolve warehousing issues and support compliant project execution.
  • Work with the Insurance team to confirm appropriate coverage requirements for warehouse locations and owner-furnished equipment values, including declared values, location-level exposure, certificate of insurance requirements, policy limits, deductibles, claims protocols, and changes in stored inventory value over time.
  • Support warehouse mobilization and demobilization, including service-provider onboarding, operating procedures, reporting cadence, inventory transfer, final reconciliation, and orderly transition to another provider when required.
  • Track warehousing demand, committed and available capacity, storage and handling spend, invoice accuracy against contract terms and activity records, and inputs for budget and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Identify and escalate operational constraints created by changing project schedules, early deliveries, delayed site readiness, equipment reallocations, or urgent releases while protecting safety, contractual rights, inventory accuracy, and project value.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of logistics and warehouse controls, standard work, dashboards, provider scorecards, audit trails, and inventory visibility.
  • Represent the company with warehouse providers, carriers, equipment suppliers, and project stakeholders while demonstrating strong ownership, sound judgment, and company values.

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multi-site, high-value third-party warehouse relationships with strong commercial and operational discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse contracting, contract administration, service-level management, rate validation, claims, insurance, risk allocation, and vendor performance management.
  • Working knowledge of insurance coordination for warehouse operations and OFE storage, including coverage requirements, insured values, certificates of insurance, claims support, and coordination with internal Risk and Insurance stakeholders.
  • Practical understanding of heavy-equipment receiving and handling, including cranes, rigging, heavy-haul access, lift planning, qualified labor, and safe loading and unloading practices.
  • Industry knowledge of storage, preservation, inspection, and handling requirements for PV modules, large transformers, inverters, BESS equipment, and other renewable energy components.
  • Ability to translate project schedules and equipment delivery plans into warehouse capacity, handling, labor, and release requirements.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, communication, relationship-management, and time-management skills.
  • Detail-oriented execution with the ability to manage multiple projects, facilities, providers, and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proactive ownership of exceptions and follow-through, with the ability to work autonomously and mobilize cross-functional support when needed.
  • Safety-first mindset and the confidence to challenge warehouse or handling practices that do not meet contractual, manufacturer, or operational requirements.
  • Ability to escalate issues clearly and timely, with practical recommendations supported by data, documentation, and operational facts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of progressive experience in warehousing, third-party logistics, logistics procurement, contract management, project logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • Direct experience sourcing, contracting, mobilizing, or managing third-party warehouses for high-value, oversized, heavy, or technically sensitive equipment.
  • Experience managing commercial agreements and service providers, including scope, pricing, performance, invoices, claims, corrective actions, and contract compliance.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory controls, receiving and shipping documentation, chain of custody, physical counts, and reconciliation.
  • Minimum proficiency in ERP and inventory-management logic, including purchase orders, material or item masters, plants, storage locations, goods receipts, inventory movements, and supporting documentation. SAP experience is beneficial but not required; role-specific SAP training will be provided.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to maintain trackers, analyze provider data, validate costs, and communicate operational status clearly.
  • Ability to travel to warehouse, supplier, port, and project locations as business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, power generation, transmission, EPC construction, or heavy industrial logistics.
  • Hands-on knowledge of PV module packaging and pallet controls, transformer preservation requirements, crane and rigging coordination, and heavy-haul facility requirements.
  • Experience supporting warehouse audits, inventory counts, insurance reviews, tax-sensitive storage decisions, or financial and regulatory diligence.
  • Experience with SAP or a comparable ERP platform, Power BI, Tableau, transportation-management systems, warehouse-management systems, or logistics visibility tools.
  • Degree or professional certification in supply chain management, logistics, engineering, construction management, business, or a related field.
