The Senior Solution Consultant partners with sales and other internal stakeholders to address and develop technical customer requirements for Workiva solutions. The Senior Solution Consultant is responsible for uncovering customer technical requirements consultatively, delivering solutions leveraging the Workiva platform, as well as providing feedback to internal teams for product improvements.
This role is focused on understanding the connections between customers’ software systems and the management/curation of data on the Workiva platform through our proprietary data management capabilities. The best candidates will ideally bring a strong understanding of technical platforms and ability to translate and consult on customer needs within the Workiva platform.
As a Senior Solution Consultant, you go beyond traditional pre-sales by taking end-to-end accountability for technical outcomes across your territory. You act as a Strategic Platform Advisor, bridging complex business transformation with advanced data architectures, ecosystem integrations, and practical AI applications.
What You’ll Do
Be the technical lead for sales opportunities as it relates to integration and data management externally and within the Workiva platform
Play a critical role in the sales process - bridging the gap between technical expertise and customer needs
Facilitate and guide IT conversations as it relates to the user and fit of the Workiva platform within a customer’s technology ecosystem
Partner with Regional Sales Directors and other customer-facing teams to work with customers to determine their challenges and requirements
Provide leadership with cross-functional Workiva resources throughout customer-facing initiatives
Design customized solutions to meet customer needs and successfully reinvent their finance processes
Work with Solution Consultants to create or adapt custom demo solutions for customers and prospective customers
Provide project and relationship management to larger customers with broader needs
Develop close working relationships of trust with key senior customer's teams
Work across the entire spectrum of the customer’s finance organization - identifying opportunities for transformations based on innovative use of the Workiva platform
Partner with Sales to drive Territory & Pipeline Development. Build hypothesis-driven engagement plans, inspect qualification gates before committing evaluation resources, and identify high-value expansion opportunities across accounts
Work with sales to build and present business cases and proposals for customers and prospects that articulate Workiva’s value and ROI
Serve as the primary technical partner for enterprise opportunities
Work with selected Workiva business partners in joint customer initiatives to bring Workiva and business partner value by delivering customer business objectives
Guide enterprise IT, architecture, and line-of-business leaders on modernizing data management using Workiva's platform, automated workflows, and practical AI capabilities
Conduct solution discovery and value presentations across Workiva's core solutions, including Financial Reporting, GRC and Sustainability
Work closely with Workiva partner and customer support teams to ensure smooth onboarding of customers and their long term success
Mentor and train other team members
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
6+ years of related career experience in pre-sales/solution consulting or management consulting experience (e.g., Big 4 or equivalent) with a background in solution consulting, technical sales, or solution delivery
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience similar
Preferred qualifications
Experience preparing and delivering software presentations/demos (presales/sales consulting experience) OR experience with implementing complex software platforms (e.g., ERPs, business intelligence technologies, financial performance management applications like Hyperion, OneStream, or other complex data management systems)
Highly commercial mindset with the ability to influence customer decisions and contribute to sales strategies
Strong leadership skills and client-facing consulting experience
Creative, can-do mind-set
Ability and willingness to provide training on domain knowledge to different audiences, internal and external
Project and time management skills
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Experience in team settings - attitude of camaraderie and partnership with team members
Excellent client-facing presentation skills, including the ability to distill complex technical topics into simple, business-value-focused explanations
Understanding of a company’s finance and accounting processes
Proven ability to position and consult on modern data strategies, enterprise integrations, and practical AI applications (e.g., automated data curation, machine learning, or predictive analytics) within complex enterprise ecosystems.
Deep multi-domain knowledge across Financial Performance Management, GRC, or Sustainability/ESG frameworks
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
Up to 30% travel for customer and internal meetings
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
