As a Senior Software Engineer within Checkr's Platform Engineering group, you will drive initiatives to enhance how your team builds, maintains, and delivers services, partnering with stakeholders across other Checkr teams. Your role will be instrumental in defining best practices and creating pathways that help your team deliver efficient, robust software solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain the software services and systems that power Checkr's platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical approaches and drive engineering best practices.
- Depending on team placement, contribute to developer-experience work spanning AgentForge (Checkr's platform for engineering agents), CI/CD, and other developer tooling and workflows (DevX), or to core backend services for Checkr's screening and verification platform (Core Services).
- Participate in architectural discussions — writing and reviewing ADRs/RFCs — to align your team on system design decisions.
- Provide feedback and consultation on system design and workflows to improve reliability and performance.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and advocate for engineering initiatives with team and cross-team stakeholders.
- Lead projects typically scoped to less than a quarter, handling low ambiguity with minimal direction — often guiding other engineers through cross-functional work.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to a collaborative, supportive team culture.
