What is the opportunity?
As the Relationship Manager for Financial Intermediaries in Hong Kong, you will be the primary relationship manager and strategic partner for RBC's key financial intermediary clients in the Hong Kong market. Reporting directly to the Head of FIM Desk APAC, you will build, develop, and maintain long-term relationships with licensed Multi Family Offices (MFOs), External Asset Managers (EAMs), and fund managers operating in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
This role combines sophisticated client relationship management, deep product expertise, and proactive business development to drive revenue growth and market expansion in one of Asia's premier international financial centers.
What will you do?
- Originate and acquire new FIM clients in Hong Kong and Greater China, focusing on licensed MFOs, EAMs, and fund managers seeking world-class custody, settlement, and banking solutions.
- Deepen existing client relationships by identifying and executing cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across RBC's comprehensive product suite.
- Establish RBC as the preferred banking partner for financial intermediaries through high-touch relationship management, strategic advisory, operational excellence, and culturally aligned engagement.
- Develop the Hong Kong and Taiwan FIM markets by building brand awareness, participating in industry events, and leveraging your personal network to expand RBC's market footprint.
- Drive business development targets while maintaining strict risk and compliance standards aligned with SFC and HKMA requirements.
- Serve as a strategic bridge between RBC and the Hong Kong/Taiwan investment management community, providing culturally informed insights and market guidance.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Minimum 8–10 years of professional experience in financial services, with at least 5+ years in FIM, EAM coverage, asset management, or intermediary banking (preferably with Hong Kong and Greater China market exposure)
- Established and extensive personal network of licensed MFOs, EAMs, and fund managers in the Hong Kong market, with demonstrated ability to leverage this network to generate new business
- Proven track record of success in business development and client acquisition within the FIM or intermediary banking space (ideally in Hong Kong or other Asian markets)
- Deep and current knowledge of Hong Kong regulatory requirements and frameworks, including SFC guidelines, HKMA requirements, AML/KYC requirements, and cross-border compliance
- Familiarity with Taiwan regulatory requirements for financial intermediaries and fund managers
- Strong technical expertise in FIM structures and products, including:
- Structured Products and Notes
- Offshore fund structures and Singapore Variable Capital Company (VCC) structures
- Credit analysis and facility documentation
- Counterparty risk management
- Cash management and treasury solutions
- Trade execution and settlement processes
- Professional-level fluency in Mandarin Chinese (Simplified and/or Traditional) for client communications and business discussions
- Fluency in English (essential for internal communications and international client interactions)
- Fulfillment of all Hong Kong regulatory requirements, including relevant securities licenses (Type 1, Type 6, etc.) and SFC registration
Nice-to-have
- Fluency in Cantonese is an advantage.
- Certified ECF qualification is preferred.
