Our headquarters are located in San Francisco and we have additional offices in Knoxville, TN and New York City with employees working remotely in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, MA, MN, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA, WI. All employees are required to have permanent residency in one of these states. Candidates who are willing to relocate are also encouraged to apply.
We prefer candidates who live in the Eastern or Central time zones to allow for easy collaboration and highly prefer those who are in the New York metro and can work on a hybrid schedule.

Job Title: Senior Quantitative Scientist, Implementation

As a Senior Quantitative Scientist at Verana Health, you play a pivotal part in revolutionizing the way life science companies utilize data for clinical development and commercial impact. Your expertise will fuel scalable, reproducible research that drives increased efficiency and innovation. The Data & Science team’s work directly improves quality of care for patients, and your technical leadership will help us harness data’s full potential—ensuring clinical insights translate into better health outcomes..
What You Get to Do:
- Lead hands-on development and implementation of robust, scalable analytic workflows using real-world, messy healthcare data
- Design, code, and execute high-quality analyses that power real-world evidence for commercial life science projects
- Serve as the technical authority establishing best practices in code review, version control, and reproducibility (GitHub, analytic workflows, documentation)
- Act as a technical advisor, framing the business impact of investments in scalable processes and infrastructure
- Drive and execute commercial retrospective studies using electronic health records (EHR) data, including statistical analysis planning and algorithm development
- Collaborate cross-functionally (Commercial, Product, Medical, Engineering) to translate clinical questions into actionable analytic approaches
- Present and communicate findings to internal and external partners, supporting decision-making and innovation
- Contribute to a culture of learning and scientific rigor, continuously improving methodological standards
Skills and Experience that Will Help You Succeed:
- Master’s or Doctorate in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or related quantitative field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of direct experience with healthcare datasets (EHR, outcomes, messy/complex data) and advanced analytical methodologies
- Expertise in R, Python, PySpark, cloud environments (AWS), Databricks, and Git-based workflows
- Demonstrated leadership in technical and analytic workflow optimization
- Strong track record supporting life sciences, pharmaceutical, or biotech organizations with impactful analytic services
- Proven expertise coding and analyzing observational datasets to generate real-world insights
- Depth of experience communicating findings across technical and non-technical teams
- Ability to balance scientific rigor with pragmatic approaches in a fast-paced, commercial environment
Salary Range: $141,441 - $176,801 (A geographic premium may be applied to base salary)
