À propos de ce poste Senior Quality Inspector - Test & Launch chez Relativity Space

Relativity Space · Sur site · Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what's underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace. The mission stays the same, but the work evolves with every milestone: from first launch to reuse, high-cadence operations, and beyond. If you're looking to define what's next in space launch and write a new playbook, not just repeat what’s already been done, this is where it happens.

About the Role:

  • Lead complex inspections: Independently plan and perform detailed in-process, receiving, and final inspections of complex aerospace hardware using CAD models, engineering drawings, process specifications, work instructions, and work order requirements. Apply advanced knowledge of dimensional inspection methods and precision measurement equipment to verify product conformity.
  • Evaluate product conformity: Review and interpret hardware requirements, specifications, tolerances, and acceptance criteria to independently determine pass/fail status. Accurately document inspection results and initiate non-conformance documentation when hardware does not meet established requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance: Serve as a technical resource for Quality Inspectors and production personnel by providing guidance on inspection methods, drawing interpretation, measurement techniques, and quality requirements throughout the manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Drive cross-functional resolution: Collaborate with Test and Launch, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Hardware Responsible Engineering teams to resolve complex inspection and manufacturing issues. Clearly communicate inspection findings, technical concerns, and recommended actions to technicians, engineers, and leadership.
  • Support non-conformance and corrective action activities: Investigate quality issues, collect and analyze inspection data, support root cause analysis, and participate in the development and verification of corrective and preventive actions. Provide inspection expertise during non-conformance and material review activities.
  • Ensure quality system compliance: Verify inspection activities and production hardware comply with applicable company procedures, engineering requirements, customer requirements, and quality management system standards. Identify recurring quality trends and recommend improvements to inspection methods, processes, tooling, or documentation.

About You:

  • 6+ years of progressively responsible Quality Inspection experience in aerospace, aviation, or another highly regulated precision manufacturing environment, including experience independently inspecting complex hardware.
  • Demonstrated experience performing advanced in-process and final inspections using precision measurement equipment and inspection techniques appropriate for tight-tolerance aerospace hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently read and interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, specifications, work instructions, dimensional requirements, tolerances, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience identifying, documenting, and communicating non-conforming conditions and supporting investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, or material review activities.
  • Experience providing technical guidance, inspection support, or mentorship to inspectors, technicians, or production personnel while ensuring consistent application of inspection and quality requirements.
  • Ability to perform inspections in production and integration environments, which may require lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted, standing for extended periods, and stooping, bending, crawling, or maneuvering within confined work areas. This position may also require occasional night shifts, weekend work, and travel.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience working within an AS9100, ISO 9001, or comparable regulated Quality Management System and applying quality requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using aerospace manufacturing and product lifecycle systems such as NX, Teamcenter, LN, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection, non-conformance review, inspection planning, or similar advanced aerospace quality activities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable business applications for documenting inspection findings, analyzing quality data, and communicating technical information.
