One of Australia's oldest and most prestigious music institutions, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music has been part of the University of Sydney since 1990, providing world-class music education, performance opportunities, and research. For more than a century, it has been at the heart of Australia's musical and cultural life, playing a pivotal role in shaping the nation's musical landscape.

This is a rare opportunity to join a globally significant research program that sits at the intersection of music, creativity, and social impact. As the Senior Project Officer, you will work closely with Professor Liza Lim AM and a network of leading artists and researchers, you will play a central role in delivering projects, events, and partnerships that engage with urgent climate and social issues. If you enjoy building relationships, bringing complex projects to life, and working in a dynamic creative and research environment, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution while collaborating with inspiring people in Australia and internationally.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • coordinate a diverse portfolio of projects, helping to deliver a world-leading research program with impact across the arts, research, and broader community
  • lead the planning and delivery of conferences, workshops, and events across Australia and internationally
  • shape and maintain the program's digital presence, ensuring website content remains current, engaging, and accessible
  • drive project outcomes by tracking progress, preparing reports, and identifying opportunities to improve performance and delivery
  • foster productive partnerships with researchers, artists, industry collaborators, and other stakeholders to support program success
  • manage project budgets and financial processes, ensuring the effective use of resources and smooth program delivery.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in project and program coordination, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex environment
  • Strong event planning and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with experience coordinating events, workshops, conferences, or related activities
  • Sound financial administration skills, including budget monitoring, expenditure tracking, and reporting
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and confidence using a range of digital systems and platforms
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a high-performing team
  • Experience within a university, research, arts, music, or environmental context would be advantageous.
