The Sr. Manager, Project Manager leads complex, cross‑functional programs and major strategic initiatives that support business objectives, operational excellence, and long‑range planning. This role provides leadership across project teams, ensures consistent project delivery practices, and partners closely with Manufacturing/Operations, Engineering, Quality, IT, and Supply Chain to drive results across multiple sites within the Connected Factory program.

What You Will Do

Lead enterprise‑level or high‑complexity projects involving multiple functions, digital systems, or manufacturing sites.
 Serve as the primary owner of project scope, schedule, risks, and stakeholder communication.
Build and actively manage detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project, including dependencies, resource plans, critical path activities, and progress reporting.
Review, validate, and clearly communicate cost‑savings analyses linked to project activities, ensuring financial impacts align with business objectives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for site teams, supporting execution of their Connected Factory project plans and ensuring alignment with the broader enterprise transformation roadmap.
Develop, maintain, and report against program governance, milestones, KPIs, and resource plans, project intake processes, and alignment with strategic business objectives.
Lead issue resolution and cross‑functional decision‑making to keep deliverables on track.
Coordinate closely with Manufacturing/Operations to support operational readiness, capacity alignment, and successful implementation of equipment, system, or process changes.
Present program updates, risks, financial implications, and recommendations to leadership and executive stakeholders.
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.

Qualifications You Must Have

A University Degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with minimum 5 years of experience.
5+ years of project or program management experience in operations, engineering, or enterprise transformation.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Project, including schedule development, resource planning, interdependency mapping, and critical path management.
Experience reviewing cost‑savings analyses, developing business cases, supporting cost forecasting, managing project budgets, and communicating financial impacts to stakeholders.

Qualifications We Prefer

Advanced degree in business, engineering, or operations.
Demonstrated experience leading large, cross‑functional initiatives in complex operating environments.
Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and manage senior‑level communications.
Experience partnering directly with Manufacturing/Operations on process changes, equipment upgrades, capital projects, or operational readiness activities.
Hands‑on knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies used in operational environments.
Experience working with manufacturing KPIs (safety, people, quality, delivery, cost) and understanding how project outcomes affect them.
Familiarity with regulatory, quality, or safety requirements relevant to manufacturing operations.
Experience with digital manufacturing, automation, or connected factory technologies (preferred).

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.

May have deep knowledge of project management. Advanced knowledge of related disciplines within work area and ability to identify links and potential impact on projects, programs or systems.

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience 

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
